Why do you think Hitler burned books?

It was LITERALLY on the reading list sent to parents.

The School is bowing to Karen parents and scapegoating the teacher.

It's the part where poor, doomed Anne gets to thinking about her girl bits - it's in her original diary, edited out of many published versions because girl bits make some folks kinda jiggy. Like this current gaggle of ignoramuses.

"the district claims the adaptation of the diary was never approved"

Ah yes. Nothing says "Freedom!" like books having to be on an Approved List. That doesn't say "Prior Restraint" that says "Freedom!"

"The school district returned the book to library shelves"

It's on the shelves... But you're not allowed to look at it or present it. In fact, that's a termination offense.

You telling your kids to not read a particular book is your choice. Bad choice, but still yours.

You telling ALL the kids to not read a particular book is dangerous, stupid and fascist.

When I was in middle school, the Diary of Anne Frank was required reading for me. Not required by the school, but by my mother.

AIUI, this is a graphic novel, not an actual book.

Does anyone have a link to a picture of the supposedly graphic content from this book?

AFAF.

"Not required by the school, but by my mother."

When we were kinds our mothers made us visit the old lady up the street with a Nazi serial number tattooed on her forearm.

It was LITERALLY on the reading list sent to parents.

It literally wasn't.

This was a "GRAPHIC NOVEL" reinterpretation.

#13 is there not a difference to it being on the approved list, and required reading vs just being available and on the shelf?

Topics with approved and not approved books always gets muddy. There's too much politics(agendas) in lesson plans in too many places these days.

Your Papers, Please.
You don't have Papers, authorizing you to teach from a book, that is on the shelf in the library?
You lose your job.

Totally agreed. Holocaust bad? Definitely an agenda there, right?
