Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, November 14, 2023

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) derailed a hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions when he read a past tweet from Teamsters President Sean O'Brien and challenged him to a fight in the hearing room.

More GOPher on GOPher violence!

.

"Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, one of the eight Republicans who voted to oust Kevin McCarthy from the speakership last month, claimed to ABC News that McCarthy elbowed him in the back after a House GOP meeting on Tuesday morning.

"He just elbowed me in the kidneys ... It was deliberate. It was just a cheap shot," he said.

McCarthy denied this, according to an NPR reporter who said she witnessed part of the altercation and published the audio of what she saw.

He later told ABC News Senior Congressional Correspondent Rachel Scott, "I would not hit him in the kidney. I guess our shoulders hit, because Burchett runs up to me afterwards. I did not know what he was talking about."

"If I would hit somebody, they would know I hit them," he said.

But Burchett said he was speaking to the NPR reporter when McCarthy walked behind him and allegedly put his elbow intentionally into Burchett's back. Burchett said he was pushed forward and then followed McCarthy down the hallway to confront him.

"I chased after him. I mean, because, you know, you're sitting there thinking, 'What the heck just happened?'" Burchett said.

According to the NPR reporter, Burchett asked McCarthy: "Why'd you walk behind me and elbow me in the back?"

The former speaker responded: "I didn't elbow you in the back."

And Burchett replied: "You got no guts, you did so."

.
Did so! Did not!

We have emotionally regressed 3rd graders running the House.

For sure this is going in Mullin's reelection campaign video:

"Has anyone ever hurt your feelings? Then vote for me. I pretended to try to fight a guy who hurt my feelings. And only Renowned Tough Guy Bernie Sanders could stop me."

Landslide victory.

Bernie should mind his own business. Fist-fighting is underrated as a deterrent to toxic behavior. No biting, no eye gouging, no kicking someone on the ground, find some grass and go until one guy doesn't want to fight anymore.
We've outlawed dueling, a big mistake IMNHO. Only Texas has mutual consent. It's basically impossible to win a liable suit. So people are allowed to say whatever they want with no repercussion.

Thanks for illustrating my point. The "stupid senator" (words you would only repeat from the safety of the internet) is 5-0 in MMA and was a college wrestling champion. You, like the lumpy sack of onions FTA, claim to have information you couldn't possibly know. Both of you flap your fingers on a keyboard and make personal jabs because you can, because there is no fear of reprisal.
I haven't had a fist fight in about 15 years, chocked out a drunk not too long ago but I wouldn't call that a fight.
You fight, the guy presses charges so you have to press charges back, go to court and its a coin flip on what sort of mood the JP judge is in that day. Maybe you get a fine, maybe probation, maybe worse. The right and wrong of it is irrelevant because society has removed our ability to stand up to bullies and -------- and liars and keyboard warriors.

I know the difference between someone who wants to fight and someone who talks like they want to fight. Mr. O'Brian has the look of the latter. You can see it in his nervous laugh, something you might be familiar with.

You're fighting a strawman, it's the only fight you can win.
Again, for the third time: Both men want to fight. Rather, they claim they want to fight, I have my doubts about Humpty Dumpty's sincerity.
No one is "attacking" anyone.
A lobbyist challenged a Senator to a fist fight, "anyplace anytime". The Senator is obliged to accept the offer.

I'm no fan of Mullin, don't know much about him TBH, but he will certainly scramble O'Brian's eggs. The fight will go 40 seconds, max.
The predictable DR----------- confirms sides are being taken based on the Senator's party affiliation. That's fine.
But if this were Cory Booker offering to throw hands with LaPierre my position would be exactly the same. If AOC challenged Blowbart to a chicken fight in the reflecting pool at dawn your refined civility would shrink away.

It's slander, but in America you have to prove O'Brian knew it was slander when he said it. O'Brian knows what he is doing, and he knows the legal standard for slander is nearly impossible to prove.

O.Brian is a bully. He bullies his own members. He bullies tradesmen to become members. He's been put on leave by his union three times for intimidation tactics and sexual harassment. He's on record for wanting to "bring back a Mob mentality".

There is only one way to deal with bullies, you have to hit them in the face.

2. As much as it pains me to say it, a trained fighter, even a low-IQ manlet with two first names like Markwayne Mullin would have probably 95% odds to beat anyone without fight training. O'Brien almost certainly has the reach advantage but would need to get lucky to even have a chance.

That's what you are doing. It's what QCP is doing by changing a headline to intentionally misrepresent the facts.

O'Brien sent his fine upstanding members to chase off a film crew in Boston.
Some highlights from the trial:
-"Lookie what we have here", John Fidler, a member of Local 25
"We're gonna bash that pretty face in, you ------- whore"
-"Several Teamsters entered the production area and began walking in lockstep toward the door of the restaurant," prosecutors said in the court document. "Without using their hands, the Teamsters bumped their stomachs and chests into the production assistant and several others.
-homophobic slurs like "pickles," as well as racial slurs like "towel head" and "brown Ellie."
-Sometime that morning, tires of at least nine vehicles belonging to the production company were slashed.

Mullin is a dope, but I'll gladly support his attempt to give this thug the beating he deserves, the beating he publicly invited before claiming he just wanted to "sit down and have coffee". Like every bully, once you stand up to them they shrink away like the pathetic cowards they are.

"I'd love to do it now".
Do you consider that "an active threat of assault"?

Civility and decorum only works when we all play by the same rules. Once you break it you can longer claim its' protection.

There was a hearing weeks ago both these guys attended. There was some back-and-forth but by all accounts everyone kept their heads. After the meeting, when he was safe on the internet, O'Brien reverted to his default position as a professional thug-for-hire, threats, taunts, lies and unfounded accusations. No one, not even half-wit Senators, even if the are Republicans should have to endure the bully tactics O'Brien deploys against delivery drivers, tv hosts, his own union members or anyone else he targets with his self described "Mob mentality".
As far as I'm concerned Mullin is free to use the Senate floor to get satisfaction. It's the only time a greasy little weasel like O'Brien can't run away to hid behind his LCD screen and union lawyers.

#10 Blusky...

All this demonstrates is that (yet again) the GOP proves to be a Party of Bullies and Cheats.

The man cannot win an argument of logic or ideas, so he descends to the lowest level, of physical violence... You and others may like MMA, but we don't elect congressmen and women to become MMA fighters. We elect them to serve as represenatives of the people's will.

But perhaps this is indicative of the entire GOP, no longer a Party of thought and ideas. Instead a Party of threats, violence, and bully tactics.

I have to imagine the former MMA fighter would have wiped the floor with the other guy regardless of any size differential. Which, of course, is beside the point. These two should be ashamed of their behavior and both should face consequences from their respective organizations. (But this is post-Trump America where there are no consequences for horrific behavior.)

He's only been in office a few months and already he's wide open to legitimate criticism. Instead there is a focus on how tall he is, this size of his penis, the quality of his wrestling team, attendance at a jr. college, his body language or strangely enough, me.
At first I thought O'Brien was given a free pass because Mullin is a Republican and dog pilling doesnt take any effort. Even Tor can pull that off.
Now I think it is because a lot of you ARE O'Brien. You're just like him. You're eager to lecture other people about "civility" without practicing it yourself. And the instant someone attempts to hold you accountable for your own words you start making squeaking noises and projecting. Just like O'Brien.

Mullin won his seat by 30 points and he'll win again, standing on a box. Trump is ahead in every poll, if he wins we are truly lost as a country. And this thread is a good illustration of how that is possible. Even an absolute scumbag like O'Brien knows he can rely on support from the so-called left if his tweets are pretentious and crude and makes fun of people living in trailer parks. You'll get to flag spam and Yas Queen each other without contributing anything (Hamburglar) and the Republicans will get the country.
