The Israeli military is preparing to broaden fighting in Gaza to "every place that Hamas is, and it is in the south of the strip," Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a Friday news briefing.

Like sheep they already let a lot of Hamas go. Talking about all the little groups getting out that magically had a new husband/father, they weren't vetted, probably on purpose.

Israel deserves peace as well.

Unfortunately there won't be a way to accomplish this when Palestinians are prisoners and Israelis treat them all as terrorists.

Really not sure what's difficult about this.

Islamic nations back decades ago fought against Israel and the Palestinians have been punished for it ever since.

It's easy to turn someone into a terrorist when they grown up being told their entire lives that they are one.

Peace requires respect for the life and property of others.

Israel finds this impossible to achieve. They fail to perceive the Palestinians as fully Human.

Why is a huge mystery. Perhaps it's Tribalism? Or Paranoia?

Whatever it is, it's going to get a lot of people killed.

I doubt I can say anything that proves the evil stupidity of this position better Tres -he's done most of the heavy lifting for me- but I'll try.

In 1940 in Libya had 35,000 Jews, today 0. Egypt 85,000, today 3. Yemen 50,000, 0 today. Morocco 220,000 Jews, today 2,000. Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon and Iran, same story. For Iraq just google Farhud pogrom, try to hold your breakfast. The Babylonian Jews lived there more than 1000 years before Islam even existed. There were 150,000 in 1940, today there are 4.
Pick any minority community, Christian, Coptic, Bahai, Hindu, Zarathustras, Baloch or otherwise in any Muslim country, show me one thriving and free from persecution.
When Israel was established in 1948 there were 700,000 "Palestinians", today there are 7,000,000. Who exactly is being ethnically cleansed?

How is it that when a Russian Jew who survived the pogroms, a Polish Jew who escaped the ghetto or a German Jew fleeing the gas chamber goes to Israel she is a symbol of white colonialism? What colonial Empire did the Jews ever possess? Colonization requires 'cargo' as the New Guineas would say. The Jews who migrated to their ancestral homeland from 1917-1947 came with the shirts on their backs. They didn't sell their land and possessions, they were pushed out and their property became the property of Arabs. Do their descendants have any 'right of return'?

When the British controlled The Levant they drew lines on a map and created two countries that had never existed before Jordan and Palestina. Palestina isn't an Arab word, it's Roman. The British were neither pro-Jewish nor pro-Arab, they were pro-British. The borders at that time were open and many Arabs moved there, mostly from Egypt and Syria, hard to say how many but it was in the hundreds of thousands. They came to work for the British, building rail and pipe and ports so they could export oil through Haifa. Today if you find a Jew whose great-grandparents came to Judea in 1920 they are labeled "white colonialists", meanwhile the Arabs (Egyptians/Syrians) are "native Palestinians".
When the land was further partitioned in 1947 (keep in mind the Arabs got all of Jordan) the Jews had to divide the remaining land with the so-called Palestinians. A plan they swiftly rejected and started a war.
Name for me please a single Arab village anywhere in the Middle East the Jews "stole" from the 7th century until 1947 when the Arabs started a war to wipe them out once and for all.

UNHCR, the UN agency responsible for refugees of war, famine, natural disasters or displacement of any kind anywhere. It has a budget of 10b, the US contributes 8%. The UN has a totally separate agency, UNWRA that only helps Palestinians. It has a budget of 3.1b, half from the US. Unlike any other refugee on the planet, Palestinians can inherit that status and pass it down to future generations. This is a complete bastardization of the word
Gazans are not violent because they are poor. They are poor because they are violent.

Peace? Whose peace? Why do the Jews owe peace to anyone? What peace has ever been offered to them? Certainly none by the Islamic world, and little to none from the wider world. Puck Feace.
Peace will come when the Arabs change their values. Peace will come when Muslim countries become democratic and inclusive. Peace will come when all of the Muslim groups in Syria and beyond stop killing each other. Peace when Muslim women are something more that chattel. Peace when the Christian populations in the Middle East stop shrinking. Peace when there aren't enough tall buildings remaining in Gaze to hurl gay men from.

bombing their neighborhoods, killing and displacing their loved ones, and dominating them with an oppressive military occupation. All of which Israel has been doing to the Palestinians for generations.

You wrote this on another thread. Any fool can read about the bombing, killing, displacing, dominating (and I'll add raping and kidnapping) of Jews across the Middle East for centuries.
So I'm wondering, if you can justify Palestinian violence for these atrocities can I do the same for the Jews?

"What colonial Empire did the Jews ever possess?"

The tatters of the one Lord Balfour decided to give them.

Israel is the colony. It was supposed to be a beach head of Western secular democratic values.

Israel is the colony. It was supposed to be a beach head of Western secular democratic values.
Can what existed there, just a few weeks after the Battle of Beersheba. really be called a colony, much less a "colonial Empire"?

There was a diplomatic process among the allies of WW1. First the Samuel memorandum then the Sykes-Picot Agreement then the Balfour Declaration. Balfour's main concern going back to before the war was to keep the Jews fleeing the pogroms of Eastern Europe out of England and to an extent France and Germany. The allies were all prepared to send them to East Africa so long as they didnt migrate to their countries.

I've got to ask, do you think it was right and proper for them to establish a State safe for Jews, somewhere, anywhere in the early 20th century?
They had basically three options:
-Partition some land safe for Jews
-Absorb the Jews, including all the Jews in the Middle East into their own countries/colonies
-Allow the Jews to be annihilated

We have more or less have the same question today with Palestinians.
-None of the Muslim countries will take them
-Several offers of a partitioned State of their own has been made and declined
-Allow the Palestinians to be annihilated

So what's your prescription? Is Uganda still an option?

The concept is where the colonialism comes into play.

Western powers created a new political entity that just coincidentally happened to embody the Western values of secularism, while also serving the political interests of the West. I think it's not really a problem to call that colonialism. Then there's the reliance on foreign aid, that adds a distinctly colonial feel.

You then went on to say the West was protecting the Jews, so again am I crazy or does that sound like colonialism, like a Protectorate?

That makes Israel look like a European refugee camp for unwanted European Jews, which of course it is.

You feeling me on the colony thing yet? Kinda like Australia was a penal colony, Israel was a Jew colony. Yes/No?

Colonialism.

Some colonies work out, it's not a dirty word.

Some colonies work out even when those who fancy themselves victims of Western Imperialism fly planes into the World Trade Center.

When do you ask Israel what are their plans to win against an adversary who will never recognize them as rulers, or saviors, or anything but occupiers?

We know what needs to be done. We know if Israel does it, any Jew gets an even bigger target on their back. Maybe a few Middle Eastern and African states go full Muslim Brotherhood.

So, what should Israel do?

Pelosi Speaking Before AIPAC Says Father Was A Shabbos Goy (March 2019)

... Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Washington D.C. last night.

At the podium, Pelosi recounted her father, Thomas D'Alesandro Jr.s acquaintance with Jewish culture, saying he was a "Shabbos Goy" who "spoke Yiddish" and "had a love for the idea of a Jewish state in what was then called Palestine'."

Pelosi said her father "worshiped at the shrine of Franklin Delano Roosevelt - he was a New Deal Democrat" who disagreed with the then US President on "only two things" - the treatment of Europe's Jews and the establishment of Israel. ...

To answer my own question of what Israel should do:

What hasn't worked for 75 years, also hasn't gotten them killed. I would stay the course. Israel needs The West, and The West needs the fiction of the Two State Solution. Everyone wins but Israel and Palestine, which seems like that was the plan all along, and Israel even agreed to it.
