This is a public admission from House Republicans that they don't actually care about the truth and that their allegations are baseless.

Ya, Republicans HATE sunlight.

If their allegations have any merit they should welcome public testimony. But they know their claims are BS.

#3 I agree, I think everything but military secrets should be held in an open session. For the very reason Hunter states.

But it seems like it only goes one way.

Which was exactly what was planned. Again taking a page from Trump's playbook. The idea isn't to actually find evidence that likely isn't there, it's to try this in the court of public opinion that doesn't require an oath as to the validity.

as usual....the truth is just the opposite of this leftist-dogma KLAN line of horse dung aobve.

GOP wants Hunter in a private deposition FIRST and on the record.

Then Hunter can grandstand, full of disinformation, in a public forum... backed by the police state run, democrat ass kissing

media whores.

Public hearings are still on the record. Nothing you said is true.
Comer originally said Biden should have a public deposition after the closed door one. Then when pressed to get it on the calendar he has now backed off and said all committee hearings will be closed door because Democrats can't act with civility.

In case you forgot, here's how civil the GOP is.
A GOP senator recently attempted to intimidate a witness with violence and cowardly backed down after his challenge to a fight was met.
Boebert and MTG's spat where they've called each other names that I wouldn't say to my worst enemy.
Comer recently shouted profanities at a colleague and called him a smurf during a committee hearing.

The GOP hates truth and democracy. They are a fascist party and you are a fascist supporter.

@#11 ... Public hearings are still on the record. ...

Yup.

The GOP wanted a closed hearing so that they could control the narrative coming out of that closed hearing and play that narrative into the court of public opinion.

Mr H. Biden wanted a public, on record, hearing so his testimony will be seen unfiltered by the Republicans.

I guess the Republicans have memories of Rep Jordan's disastrous public hearings that were little more than an embarrassment for the House Republicans.

This is false, the subpoena is a deposition behind closed doors as is standard, Comer said no problem about a public hearing afterwards.

This is in line with many other subpoenas and how they are executed.

Why does the GOP want his deposition to be private?

If they're just trying to get the truth, why don't they want us all to hear the truth?

@#14 ... Comer said no problem about a public hearing afterwards. ...

After the Republicans have tainted public opinion with their lies about what happened behind closed doors.

Similar to what fmr AG Barr did with the Mueller report. Before he released the report, he gave a skewed presentation of what the report contained. That skewed presentation then became the Republican narrative, even after the report was released.

The House Republicans are just following a playbook that they saw worked, after Rep Jordan's disastrous public hearings.

The GOP wants a show trial. That is all. They are not the least bit concerned with whether or not there is any actual evidence. It is 100% political showmanship. There is no meat.

Funny side note...

The GOP can't enforce the subpoena if Hunter says no.

A DOJ policy established under Trump to protect Trump requires that any subpoena issued in an impeachment inquiry requires the impeachment process to be voted on. Since this impeachment inquiry was not voted on, the DOJ policy is not to enforce the subpoena.

Former GOP Congressman on why Comer doesn't want Hunter to testify publicly:

Denver Riggleman
@RepRiggleman

Data. Chain of custody. Forensics.

All of these work against the GOP in their investigation into Hunter Biden.

Hunter Biden asked me and my team coming on to assist his lawyers with forensics and open source analysis. I warned him we would work hard and could upset the apple cart.

He said, "I don't care what you find. We must know the truth."

Hunter's team can be confident.

Biden fears closed door because he knows this is a perjury trap - he needs the testimony to be public to coordinate his story with his lowlife, criminal friends.

What a riot.

Comer fears a public hearing where he'll be just as embarrassed as the open hearings so far.

If Jim Jordan had offered to publicly testify, would the J6 committee have turned him down?!?

NFW.

Republicans are cowards with no evidence, and the fear that fact will come out, leaving them even more of a laughingstock than they are today. .

The fact of the matter is that there is ZERO reason to agree to any conditions for his testimony. Haul him in under your rules or throw him in jail.

So, he seems to want a public on the record testimony.

Why does your current alias propose throwing him in jail?

"Got a link?"

Jordan's behavior is link enough.

I mean, really, is there anything more peak Republican than ignoring a prior subpoena from the committee you currently chair?

@#28 ... Jordan's behavior is link enough. ...

Yeah, I do not disagree.

Indeed, while Rep Jordan's investigations have been more of an embarrassment to him, and the institution of the House of Representatives, was that the goal?

A question I ask: was he aware of that embarrassment he has brought upon himself for those "hearings?" More important, do his constituents realize that level of incompetence?

But maybe that was his real purpose, to destroy the institution of the House of Representatives?

I mean, how can a Representative in Congress be so clueless to take a majorly publicized trip to NYC, only to be shown what he was looking for what wasn't there?

Were Rep Jordan's advance people THAT clueless?
