Israel plans to flood with seawater Hamas's Gaza tunnels, which Hamas uses to transport weapons and terrorists. Experts say flooding the tunnels could pollute Gaza's already scarce water supply.

"The pumps, which are roughly a mile north of the Al-Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, can move thousands of cubic meters per hour and could flood the tunnels within weeks, the Journal reported."

Israel getting Old Testamenty with it: "And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew the people that was therein, and beat down the city, and sowed it with salt." Judges 9:45

Anyone else notice as the Torah goes along less and less people are killed?

Well given that there are no Palestinians in the tunnels, what's the down side?

This will permanently make the underlying aquifer undrinkable and unsuitable for agriculture. It will cease to be an aquifer.

#5 explain why, don't just throw out it's a Holocaust of biblical proportions.

Hamas really is making an ecological disaster aren't they.

Even if the IDF didn't fill them, global sea rise is going to.

Gaza city is 14 m above sea level.

Salt water intrusion?

Gaza coastal aquifer has been exposed to severe overexploitation to meet the human needs for water supply. This exploitation has resulted in lowering of the groundwater level to by more than 15m below mean sea level in the south and around 5m in the north. Groundwater level drop has exposed the aquifer to seawater intrusion and inland saline upconing in the central south and south-east of the Gaza Strip.

I thought this was your expertise.

By 2000, the water from the Coastal Aquifer in the Gaza region was considered no longer drinkable due to high salinity from the sea water intrusion and high nitrate pollution from agricultural activity.[4] In 2013, an analysis of nine municipal groundwater wells reported a TDS ranging from 680.4 mg/L to 3106.6 mg/L, averaging 1996.5mg/L, exceeding the 1000mg/L WHO acceptable level, mainly due to high chloride and sodium.[5]

So what are we screaming about?

I'm not totally familiar with the hydrogeology of Gaza. But, usually, coastal aquifers sit on top saline groundwater, separated by a "lens" because of different densities.

Infiltration by saline water dissolves the lense, so the freshwater becomes brackish. It doesn't repair in timescales meaningful to humans.

Aquifer implies yield at economic cost, meaning it has to be economically feasible to retrieve the water. One could de-ionize, but it's cheaper to use seawater, so not really feasible, no more aquifer.

Well, if it's already ------, the point is moot, lol.

The Germans flooded Stalag POW escape tunnels with sewage, as I recall.

Guess who takes most of the water.

Hint: It isn't the Palestinians.

Literally the next sentence is about desalinization and you didn't post it so you could pretend the water is worthless.

Typical.

Not to mention the hostages.

#18 | Posted by LegallyYourDead at 2023-12-06 03:25 PM | Reply

The hostages are collateral damage.

Wiping out Gaza is worth any price.

Just ask Netanyahu and Israeli intelligence which decided to ignore all reports concerning the action being taken by Hamas.

#19 | Posted by ClownShack at 2023-12-06 03:39 PM | Reply

#19 they are only damage if Hamas doesn't let them free.

The IDF could raise the water 1 inch a day.

No reasonable person would claim the IDF killed them.

Hamas is free to walk out of the tunnels and become a prisoner of war.

OR.

Hamas can sacrifice hostages in order to blame the IDF.

How could they do this?

#21 | Posted by ClownShack at 2023-12-06 03:56 PM | Reply

The IDF needs to kill all the hostages in order to maintain the lie about Hamas raping and killing them.

Variable pump speed. Best to just run it at full tilt though.
