A wealthy donor for Penn reportedly is withdrawing a $100 million donation over how the school president conducted herself.

Calling for the extermination of Jews is definitely anti-Semitic. But what I find most disturbing is those using the Oct. 7th attack as justification for the extermination of Palestinians.

These college Presidents, especially the lady from Univ of Penn, need to resign. If they cannot clearly and decisively denounce calls for extermination then they have no business being in charge of anything. This is obvious. It should be a no-brainer for the Board of Regents or Trustees or whatever they have there overseeing who is in charge. It was a really embarrassing day for so-called higher education and the Ivy League.

Say goodbye to the First Amendment. Although most Republicants believe the Bill of Rights starts at #2.

"If they cannot clearly and decisively denounce calls for extermination"

When Nazis do that, JeffJ supports their right to freedom of speech and says it's wrong for college campuses to censor their speech.

So. What should college campuses actually do?

Like, beside the President leaving, which is a token gesture

What speech should be banned, and on what grounds, and with what repercussions for those who say the wrong things?
???

Well I, for one, will not be donating $100 million to any of those schools!

"If the House members think that criticisms of Israel on college campuses are antisemitic, though, they should see what's printed in Haaretz. Israel's third-largest (and oldest) newspaper is full of columns penned by Jewish Israelis bemoaning that Israel has become an "apartheid" state, has embraced "Jewish supremacy," and is ethnically cleansing Palestinians from the West Bank. Its columnists declare their support for a one-state solution and even defend those who draw comparisons between Israel and the Nazis."

Should Haaretz be banned from college campuses?

You find it more disturbing than calling for the extermination of Jews? And people aren't calling for the extermination of Palestinians, they are calling for the extermination of the Hamas members that participated in Oct 7th.

It's pretty basic so even you should be able to understand. These schools have been subsidized in one form or another by the American tax payer, when Jewish students cant participate in school events because they feel threatened those schools should lose that funding.

"And people aren't calling for the extermination of Palestinians, they are calling for the extermination of the Hamas members that participated in Oct 7th."

Lots of people are saying the Palestinians voted for Hamas, and that makes them supporters of terrorism, and that makes military action against Palestinian civilians acceptable.

Lots of people are saying that Hamas is using the Palestinians as human shields which makes it unavoidable that innocent Palestinians will be killed.

Anti-semitism is just one of those things that the Right pretends to care about.

You guys really need to disavow the Nazis in your political base.

"because they feel threatened"

If that's your standard, some students feel threatened when they see a cop on campus. Or when they see a trans woman competing in women's sports on campus. Or when they see Ben Shapiro on campus.

Some Israelis have been calling for the extermination of the Palestinians for decades.

The people who organize these demonstrations know the law. They know what they can get away with and what they can't. They can draw pictures of Hamas paragliders. They can't say "kill Jews at music festivals". The message is the same, one is protected and one is not. There is a line. I support college kids learning the line and walking all the way up to the edge if that's what they want to do.
I also support people taking photos of them while they indulge in this tightrope act, posting the photos online and doxxing them. That's free speech, too.

"But what I find most disturbing is those using the Oct. 7th attack as justification for the extermination of Palestinians."

Can you provide even a single link to anyone calling for the extermination of Palestinians?

Even a single one?

I this had been a white supremacist group, or even a black nationalist group, these presidents would have been relieved of their positions and the students expelled.

Her comments remind me a lot of Ward Churchill.

I listened to about an hour of this on C-SPAN.

The Presidents sounded unprepared and unable to fight fire with fire.
