There is no ------- way the same military that allowed hundreds of their own citizens to be slaughtered "knows exactly how much collateral damage" there is.

What a weird point to pick. If my block got blown up, Census records would paint a pretty accurate picture of who got blown up.

Sure, some would be out of town that day, or visiting a friend. Doesn't change the general parameters of what's being described here.

That day in early October melted a lot of brains.

I have no doubt in my mind that both GWB and Obama would approved the collateral deaths of hundreds of Afghani civilians if that is what it took to get OBL. I do not know what should be concluded from that reality.

Yap, #4.

A couple of war criminals would have probably been cool with it.

Very insightful.

Why would you have any doubt? It's well documented and they created a legal framework for it. Obama's great change was slightly revising the legal framework, then massively ramping up the number of strikes.

We can just jump right back to nuclear weapons. Is it okay to firebomb hundreds of thousands of people to break the will of a fanatical culture? I don't know if it's okay. I just know that it worked.

You sure about that?

How do you know it worked?

Sounds like an excuse, not what actually happened.

War crimes shorten wars? If that's true, why are they Crimes at all?

They "save lives" so are justified?

Is that it?

It's not a war crime when they're classified as war production.

and war crime prosecutions are for winners, and winners only.

Today's "winners" are often tomorrow's losers.

The crime is the same. Morality isn't based on victory or defeat but accountability usually is.

And I guarantee that our Hamas-lovers will freak out about Israel responding in-kind to a Palestinian nuke attack.

Found the potential war criminal, looking to justify illegal murder.

Did you love it when Trump pardoned Eddie Gallagher?

Or had General Soleimani murdered when no state of war existed with Iran?

Was that "Victor's Justice?

How many OBLs does Israel need to neutralize in Gaza?

From the Putin propagandist lol. If Russia wins, definitely no war crimes were committed by them, only by Ukraine. Ask them. They're more than happy to tell you all about it.

The Gallagher lesson is that you never treat enemy combatants, you just let them bleed out and pretend they're already dead. Mercy can put you in Leavenworth.

The world dropped the question of whether that was legal or not to kill Soleimani once Trump was out of office. If you wage an insurgency then are arrogant enough to drive around in the country to coordinate more of it, we send 2 Hellfire missiles at your car. That's the acceptable reality for global powers and the countries like Iran that want to be one.

Israeli "intelligence" knew about the planned attack by Hamas.

They couldn't believe they had the Courage or ability to actually do it.

They know better now.

War is unpredictable, today's winners are only today's.

13-1 in this UN vote today on whether or not the world thinks the Israeli military should be allowed to start a fire with a pile of Palestinian babies to smoke 1 Hamas fighter out of a building with 900 civilians inside and then kill everyone.

The US was the only vote against it.

#20 | Posted by tres_flechas at 2023-12-08 08:44 PM | Reply

1 country abstained.

They wanted to say light those babies on fire but didn't want to deal with the fall out.

Iran will never be able to hit back in kind. Sleep easy on that one. Air dominance is real. So real if Russia had it they wouldn't have a million casualties in Ukr.

"God help us when they have the capability to hit back in kind."

They do. In fact they did so a few days ago.

Several years ago, I was flying a lot between Doha and the US. The route of flight went right over Iran. In fact I have some really good pics I took on my iPhone of the nuclear facility at Isfahan.

Iran had decreed that all US servicemembers were terrorists. Since at the time I was a military officer, I was always a bit concerned at the time that if the jet had to divert into Iran due to mechanical issues, I might have some serious problems.

I don't think that Tamim the Glorious would have likely stepped in and helped though.

#4. Explains why Obama chose a risky attack in Pakistan rather than lobbing a few cruise missiles at bin laden, right?
And Dubya couldn't be bothered with bin laden as Tora Bora showed. Now Iraqis were a different matter.

They wouldn't lob cruise missiles. They'd send over a stealth drone, if it was just about killing.

They wanted him alive if convenient. They also took an intel trove with them that unlocked the door to kill a lot more people, with predators drones.
