Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, February 11, 2024

A crowd surrounded an empty Waymo Robotaxi the evening of Feb 11, then began vandalizing it and breaking its windows. At some point, the vehicle was set on fire. The attackers are not masked, and many of their faces show clearly in the posted videos.

Any idea why that robotaxi was attacked?

Is that some sort of new thing?

Victim blaming? :)

It appears that a certain segment of the population likes to watch things burn. And it's even more fun when there are no ramifications.

Basically, IMHO, losers revelling in destroying a car that they probably aren't even qualified to wash, let alone help create.

This would be only another Saturday night after a Mountineers' win in West Virginia.

Define new? Isn't a robo taxi new?

You imply it's a one off like things aren't connected .

Imo it's just another sign of American societys degradation.

Will Smith was right.

Never trust a robot. They are not your friends.

Really? OK. Personally, I think car fires are interesting. Electric car fires with lithium batteries doubly so.

Driven by a few ICE car fires on highways in the past. Could actually feel the heat four lanes away through the window while driving in the opposite direction.

The idea that some fools set an electric car on fire and then hang out while the lithium burns? That's got Darwin Awards written all over it. I would be remiss if I didn't partake in judging the winner.
