So...someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but deporting someone to a place where they might be killed would be a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Or at the very least International Humanitarian Law.

You can throw them in jail if it warrants. If they are HAMAS or something. But this would appear to be a prudent decision from my vantage point.
