Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

For years, critics of Vladimir Putin have been warning that the Russians have taken over parts of the Republican Party. They raised the alarm as Republicans defended the Russian leader, parroted clear Kremlin talking points, and became mules for disinformation campaigns. In recent weeks, that criticism has shifted to include not just Republicans who have left the party, including former representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, but current GOP members.

GOP Rep. Mike Turner: Russian propaganda is 'being uttered on the House floor' (April 2024)
www.nbcnews.com

... GOP Rep. Mike Turner said Sunday that Russian propaganda has taken hold among some of his House Republican colleagues and is even "being uttered on the House floor."

"We see directly coming from Russia ... communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor," Turner, chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said in an interview on CNN's "State of the Union."

"There are members of Congress today who still incorrectly say that this conflict between Russia and Ukraine is over NATO, which of course it is not," he added. ...

@#1 ... Very compromised. ...

My question: what is the GOP doing to reduce Russian influence within their party?

Or is the end-goal of the GOP to foster such influence?

The GQP doesn't care how much they've sold out to our number one adversary in the world if it wins them elections, gains them power, and fills their coffers with filthy Russian blood money. The party line for the GQP is they prefer autocracy to democracy because the general public disagrees with their policies of making women property, making the rich richer on the backs of the poor, destroying the planet, unfettered access to guns being more important than the lives of children, hatred of those who are different than you, support of Xtian Nationalism, and undying support of their fat, orange, stupid, incompetent, criminal cult leader.

"Just How Compromised Is The GQP By The Russians?"

Compromised is too light of a word.

Wholly owned by Russia is a more accurate description.

Given the low-voltage brains in the GOP nowadays, "Duped" is as far as the Russians have had to go. Why bother to compromise people who are "Christian" enough to not chase women or even drink anything stronger than sweet tea? Won't work. As for buying off the GOP, these suckers on The Hill are so wet behind the ears that they will do a foreign government's bidding for two tickets to a ballgame, a Metro Card or better parking spot. Any Washington GOPer who was not in the US Military (which means the large majority of of them) will not recognize when they are being played as dupes. Make a list, based on how unconvincing they sound on the TV--Tom Cotton, Coach Tuberville, MTG, Tom Massie, maybe even "------" Mace, among others...

When did Dems literally change their party platform to appease Iran and attack a neutral country?

When did a Dem presidential candidate openly ask for, and immediately receive, election assistance from Iran?

When did a dozen prominent Dems spend the 4th of July in Iran?

When did Dem presidential campaign manager get arrested and charged for consulting work he did for a pro-Iran political party?

When did Dems wear shirts that said "I'd rather be Iranian than Republican?"

When did a Dem presidential campaign manager secretly share internal polling data with Iranians?

@#25 ... Read their quoted comments on this thread...

The main issue seems to be that the cited article quotes Republicans.

For example, from the cited article...

... In recent weeks, that criticism has shifted to include not just Republicans who have left the party, including former representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, but current GOP members.

Recently, two powerful Republican chairs of the House Intelligence Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee warned openly about how Russian propaganda has seeped into their party and even made its way into speeches on the House floor.

Other members are now even openly questioning whether some of their fellow officials have been compromised and are being extorted.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) suggested in a recent interview that the Russian spies may possess compromising tapes of some of his colleagues. It's unclear where he's getting his information or how accurate it is. ...
