Good example of structural racism.

and why not cut to the chase....what's it gonna cost to make this all go away and leave everyone feeling good about what was, admittedly, a bad situation.

Especially when the Western goal of cultural "progress" is achieved by destroying the indigenous cultures.

It doesn't have to be that way, though. Not that you'll ever acknowledge it.

I don't think my purview will ever decide the fate of an indigenous culture, However, if it should come to that I'd like to think I'd cut a really sweet deal!

Why aren't you trying to destroy those too?
Oh... right...

You're not trying to destroy them Snoofy, you're trying to replace them.

Pretty sure that's a distinction without a difference.

Israel isn't destroying Gaza, they're replacing it with Israel.

Yeah, it would be a damn shame if Gaza quit being an Islamic theocracy.

Lost the point or totally ignoring the point?

Not to build but where you build. You have targeted non whites communities for you industrials.

REPEATEDLY!

capitalists go where they can get the best deal. like buying slaves...they bought them from other blacks.

were the white purchasers more or less culpable than the black entrepreneurs?

"were the white purchasers more or less culpable than the black entrepreneurs?"

Can you explain what, or why, you're asking?

How does it make any difference, who is more or less culpable? I don't see how it changes anything.

#20..targeted non whites communities for your industrials. I'm assuming the industrials were white owned?

my point was business/industry is what it is. capitalism is predatory and so I don't see the point of

distinguishing deleterious business by color. All races are equal when it comes to being eff'd up

No they are not.
Exhibit A: Flint, MI

Environmental racism, as it's been called, is so thoroughly documented that denying it can only be seen as racist.

I post this when it's appropriate-this looks like a good place:

In the summer of 2021, my wife and I visited the Big Hole National "Battlefield" in Montana, quotes as they are rarely battlefields, they are usually massacre sites. This was between the Nez Perce and the US Cavalry, and was one of four battles that decided the fate of the Nez Perce. The last took place in September of 1877 and they were then shipped off to reservations.

The Nez Perce roamed the largest area of any North American tribe, covering the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana plus the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. It is estimated that they were there for 10,000 to 13,000 years, only taking from the land what they needed to live and survive. "Us whites with 5,000 years of recorded civilization behind us" (A quote from some government dweeb) have managed to put the entire plant at risk in the intervening 147 years.

not having electricity.

because I think you could go around the world and find one race taking advantage of another just means, to me, that people are always going to look out for them and theirs and that'll be along political, religious and or racial lines.

and I wouldn't be surprised after the majority of us are wiped out by the inevitable pandemic that the world will be rebuilt by AI and the ones clever enough to have escaped the disease. limited population growth and a new set of values to determine hierarchies in all parts of societies. no more emphasis on race or religion.
of course, nuclear war would probably pretty much tank that idea

I'm saying human nature is selective. those selections are in fact sometimes determined by race.

I absolutely despise the muslim religion. it, to me, personifies some of the worst aspects of human nature.

I have no prejudice against any of the peoples who practice it, regardless their race.

It's a stupid article.

A) salmon can be raised in farms. There is no practical need to catch them in the wild. There is nothing wrong with catching fish-I enjoy it-but one's hobby is probably not worth sacrificing the health, safety, and quality of life for many more.

B) Natives were largely nomadic in the PNW, not tied to a particular parcel of land. Those with the biggest gripes would be the European settlers who established communities that were later flooded when the dams were built. Maybe they should have been the focus of this article.

#33 | Posted by madbomber at 2024-06-21 12:28 PM | Reply

"It's a stupid article."

The article is reporting on something the government said.

Are you saying what the government said is stupid, or are you saying reporting on what the government said and why is what's stupid?

Are you really so dumb you don't understand dams harm the ecosystem and the people who depend on that ecosystem?
