i live in Arkansas outside a town the size of Fordyce and it's just unfathomable that this could be happening

we all have/had guns around here our whole lives. we don't think much about the NRA because we're not afraid of our guns getting taken away

but this random mass shooting has to be indicative of more than just a lot of guns

Weak effort. You're never going to get on the high score board with a shotgun.

It starts there.

Rupert Murdoch and a few nutzoid billionaires have stoked mass delusions and fear-mongered a significant percentage of the population into a kind of mental illness/cult...there has also been an increase in domestic terrorism in the age of the convicted felon guy who lost the 2020 election. White Nationalist "Christians" are also more brazen in their openness to violence. Repubicans have actively fought against any and all funding for mental health care since Reagan.

and, and and I can wander into the phenomenon of religious fundamentalists being prone to violence, regardless of the religion.

Better gun laws are a place to start.

it's just unfathomable that this could be happening

Unfathomable?

I don't think you understand what that word means?

It is 1000% understandable.

It happens every day. Schools, workplaces, grocery stores.

Unfettered access to guns by people with mental issues and whenever any steps to mitigate the problem are proposed the NRA pumps another round of $$$$$ to the GOP and Lumpy Thomas and the pinheads get up screaming "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!" at the top of their lungs.

Its easier to buy a gun in red states than buy a car.

One of dotards FIRST actions in office was to kill the Obama policy of not allowing a person with KNOWN MENTAL ILLNESS from buying a weapon.

So there is NO REASON why this is unfathomable.

so it's mentally ill folks who have ready access to guns

well, since Columbine, we've had republicans as president and both houses...ditto for the democrats

why haven't measures been taken if the problem is so apparent?

you're right, but i think there's a social dynamic at play now that we've never faced before. mentally ill folks...i think a lot of these shooters wouldn't fall into that category the day before they go on their rampage. trigger is a popular word in the culture wars and i think there's lots of triggers on social media.

That fear is why is it illegal for government to compile a list of gun owners.
You do know Republicans made it illegal for government to compile a list of gun owners, right?

The US has suffered at least 247 mass shootings in just the past six months, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines mass shootings as those in which four or more victims are shot. In recent weeks, gunfire erupted at a Michigan splash pad, a Texas Juneteenth celebration and a Massachusetts car meetup, among other seemingly innocuous locations.

#19 | Posted by brerrabbit at 2024-06-24 10:37 AM | Reply

Guns, when used as intended, magically transform seemingly innocuous locations into mass shooting hellscapes.

Millions of Americans are too stupid to figure out the guns is why there are so many mass shootings.

They Virtue Signal their support for the Republican Mass Shooting Agenda by wearing AR-15 lapel pins.

Mass Shootings are good for Republicans, because mass shootings perpetuate the Republican culture of fear and victimhood.

The issue of guns and mass shootings was lost following Sandy Hook. It was at that time that we saw the true nature of Repubicans. Six year-olds getting shot in the face by a high velocity bullet was not enough to open up a dialogue with not-liberals about commonsense gun laws and mental health care. BRERRABBIT, you can try to both-sides this issue all you want, but the answer to why this happens is in the mirror, not "whiny liberals."

Look at yourself in the mirror, and ask yourself why six year-olds being shot in the face isn't enough to move you to action.

As these mass shootings increase, you know what else has increased? Pharmaceuticals. Read the fine print that comes with that stuff.

"The risk that antidepressants will incite violent or self-destructive actions is the subject of continuing controversy. In 2004, the FDA first initiated a Black Box Warning on SSRIs " its strongest available measure short of withdrawing a drug from the market. The warning is still placed on package inserts for all antidepressants in common use."

He lives in StrawMan world where liberals want to take all his guns.

He calls the biggest cause of pediatric death in the US virtue signaling. When you're immune to kids dying, what left to shame you?

The best thing to do with intellectual boulders like ----------- is to step over them and keep moving.

----------- thinks Republicans are more efficient than Democrats.

Of course, from Climate Change to guns they 'win' by doing nothing.

A much lower bar than actually accomplishing anything.

Of course, ConservaDunces will still be affected by these issues. Willful ignorance is not an effective vaccination against reality.

Enjoy your Pyrrhic Victory.

Re 48

We have a gun violence epidemic in our country, a crisis that is uniquely American. People from all parties, from all walks of life are desperately calling on Congress to make these reforms that are commonsense and urgently needed. Over 100 people die from firearms every single day, and guns have become the number one cause of death for children. It doesn't have to be this way. I refuse to accept these atrocities as an unavoidable part of American life.

I'm incredibly proud to say that after years of unacceptable gridlock, our Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was signed into law by President Joe Biden " the first major gun reform bill signed into law in three decades. But I know this work is nowhere near done." - Jared Huffman

Me commenting on the tragedy of children getting shot in the face doesn't border on childish, as it relates to sociopaths that search for reasons why it happens (any reason that is not the most obvious, guns). Your sociopathy is showing
