"Trump announced former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his pick to lead the Justice Department"elevating an ally shortly after former Rep. Matt Gaetz's withdrawal.
Bondi served as Florida's top lawyer from 2011 to 2019, and later joined Trump's defense team in his first Senate impeachment trial in 2020.
She also served on a Trump-era commission on opioids and drug addiction. Attorney general is one of the most high-profile and highly anticipated appointments, as Trump has fiercely criticized the Justice Department for prosecuting him and is expected to drastically change its makeup"and possibly push for retribution against his opponents."
Vengeance is mine, saith L'ard Trump!

"In 2016, Bondi gave a speech at the Republican National Convention, during which she led "Lock her up" chants directed at the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
In 2019, after her final term as Florida attorney general, Bondi was hired by Ballard Partners, a firm with close ties to Trump, and she began working as a registered lobbyist for Qatar.
In November 2019, she was hired by the first Trump administration to help the White House during Trump's first impeachment proceedings, being given special Government employee status, allowing Bondi to continue working for the Arab lobby.
Her position was described the following month as being to "attack the process" of the impeachment inquiry. On January 17, 2020, Bondi was named as part of Trump's defense team for the Senate impeachment trial."

Oh, there's more at the link.
And NO ONE could have predicted that she looks like a Candy striper. OK, former Candy striper. Can a registered foreign lobbyist even be AG?

@#2 ... Can a registered foreign lobbyist even be AG? ...
That depends upon the intent behind the nomination.

Nobody's curious about the $25,000 donation she received from the (now defunct) Trump Foundation?
In 2013, Bondi also received criticism following a campaign donation from Donald Trump. Prior to the donation, Bondi had received at least 22 fraud complaints regarding Trump University. A spokesperson for Bondi announced that her office was considering joining a lawsuit initiated by Eric Schneiderman, the Attorney General of New York, regarding tax fraud potential charges against Trump. Four days later, however, a political action committee established by Bondi to support her re-election, And Justice for All, received a $25,000 donation from the Donald J. Trump Foundation, after which Bondi declined to join the lawsuit against Trump University.... In September 2016, the IRS determined that the donation to Bondi's PAC violated laws against political contributions from nonprofit organizations, and ordered Trump to pay a fine for the contribution.

"Gaetz told associates that he believed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine and Senator-elect John Curtis of Utah were fully opposed to his nomination and would effectively kill his bid to lead DOJ, New York Times journalist Jonathan Swan reported on Thursday."

At least she's an experienced lawyer and prosecutor. The other idiot barely practiced civil law for at most 3 years.

@#8 ... At least she's an experienced lawyer and prosecutor. ...
Yup.
... The other idiot barely practiced civil law for at most 3 years. ...
Yeah, but that seemed to be the least of the issues.
That aside, ...
Do you remember a past Pres-elect who has had so many of his nominees be so questionable?

CNN's Elie Honig, who is not a conservative, praised the pick
CNN Legal Analyst @eliehonig : "Pam Bondi is, without a question, qualified to be Attorney General. She's been a prosecutor for 20 years in Florida. For 8 of those, she was the Attorney General of the state. That's a very big, very complicated job and that level of experience is on par with, or better than most United States Attorneys General that we've seen over the past 50 years or so."
--but I'm sure "you people" are much smarter on legal issues than this guy.***

The US doesn't need a defender of the big lie as Attorney General.
Period.

Bondi announces an investigation for fraud for Trump U.
Trump Foundation pays her off (cheap too). Got fined for it too.
Two days later she decides to not prosecute.

I'm wondering why this lady was picked? She WAS hot, some years ago. But no longer. I guess compared to Melania she gives better 'rub' jobs...

This may have been Agent Oranges pick all along. Gaetz was so bad that he makes this choice look great by contrast. A sort of bait and switch.
Plus the added bonus for Gaetz, that it relieves him of significant scrutiny.

How do you feel about any of the lawyers that fought the election results in 2020? With so many of these experienced lawyers being sanctioned, disbarred or otherwise penalized not to mention what they presented to the court for their cases.
I agree the other guy is just an idiot. I just don't know how much faith I put in her being an experienced lawyer having had some experience with "experienced lawyers".

AS it turns out, she was Election Denier Numero Dos, just after Trump himself; it was her face on tv declaring Victory in Penn, and claiming ballot dumping as fact.
And then his lawyer at his Impeachment, who has claimed that the prosecutors doing their jobs will be themselves prosecuted. For following the Law by investigating the claims, and finding they were completely fact-free.
She's a real piece of work.
She was either stupid enough to believe the original claims, which are now known to be phony, or criminal enough to be as legit as any Mob Lawyer who is allowed to defend their client as innocent, no matter the evidence to the contrary.
Which evidence has already put participants of the Trump Insurrection Conspiracy in prison in independent courtrooms all across the country. And the same for many more of the attack participants.
And one day do the same for him, if he lives that long.

I am going on record that she was a horrible pick with a horrible history in Florida, at least in the Panhandle.
