A federal grand jury indicted two anti-ICE volunteers with terrorism-related charges for a 4 July incident at an ICE facility in Texas. The indictment charges Cameron Arnold and Zachary Evetts with providing material support for terrorism, attempting to murder federal and assisting officers, and discharging firearms during attempted murders. "For the first time ever, the FBI has arrested anarchist violent extremists and charged these Antifa-aligned individuals with material support to terrorism," FBI Director Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel vainly boasted. "This was a planned and coordinated terrorist attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, TX where armed extremists tried to murder US officers on July 4th," the most under-qualified individual to ever lead the FBI bleated. read more

Meanwhile, Canadian travel to the US continues plummeting. In 2024, Canadian tourists vacationing in the US spent $20.5bn. In the first six months of 2025, Canadian travel to the US was down 24% overall. The protracted decline is part of a larger overall drop in international tourists, driving a projected economic loss of up to $29bn compared to what US tourism officials had expected at the beginning of the year. The US Treasury Department reports that the Republican-led government shutdown is costing the US economy $15 billion a week and JP Morgan warned that America is "going broke slowly." Worst. President. Ever.
"While this canceled grant likely wouldn't have completed construction in time to mitigate the flood damage we're seeing now, it underscores not only the urgent need for federal investment to make these communities more resilient, but also the importance of reducing the amount of bureaucracy and red tape small communities like Kipnuk must cut through. Whether you call it climate change or "once-in-a-generation" extreme weather, no community in the wealthiest country on earth should lack the basic infrastructure needed to keep its people safe.
That's why I prioritized funding for essential infrastructure in the IIJA as an author, and why I'll keep fighting to unfreeze these awards. The best time to prepare our communities was twenty years ago; the next best time is now."
