Appeals Court: Trump’s Asylum Ban at Border Illegal

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (Ninth Circuit) ruled that immigration laws (AKA the INA) give people the right to apply for asylum at the US border and Donald Trump's executive order is therefore illegal.

Donald Trump issued this ukase the first day he seized power.

Comments

"The power by proclamation to temporarily suspend the entry of specified foreign individuals into the United States does not contain implicit authority to override the INA's mandatory process to summarily remove foreign individuals."

~The Honorable J. Michelle Childs, nominated to the bench by POTUS Joe Biden (D).

"give people the right to apply for asylum at the US border"

Republicans in Congress could easily change that law.
So why don't they? Because Republicans prefer Trump's autocratic, lawless approach.

Trump is what Republicans have always dreamed of in a leader.
A leader that is not bound by Congress or the Judiciary.
