Court clears way for Texas to enforce migrant arrest law

May 29 (Reuters) - A federal appeals court on Friday cleared the way for Texas authorities to enforce key parts of a law that would allow state officials to arrest and deport people suspected of having illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border.

... cleared the way for Texas authorities to enforce key parts of a law ...

Does that law also enable the denial of due process for those arrested?

"make it a state crime for someone to reenter the U.S. after deportation, even if they have federal permission to do so or have since obtained a green card"

So this law is intended to prevent people who have gotten deported but then "gone through he proper channels" from entering the United States, through Texas.

It really does seem like the cruelty is the point.

"give magistrate judges in Texas the power to issue deportation orders."

Who enforces these orders? Can Texas deport people now, or are we just having the State direct the Federal authorities now?

Republicans done a good job convincing themselves that there's an "emergency" at the border. And ramping up the emergency powers. It's so blatantly obvious these powers are being developed to be turned inward, as we saw in Minneapolis. This is an example of these powers being turned inwards, in Texas.

It's establishing a right for the State to deport people they don't like, a right the States didn't have before.

Systematic stripping away of legal protections of the undesirables. Wishing them into the cornfield at taxpayer expense.
