Connecticut Town Offers $4 Ride-Share Program

... The on-demand microtransit service called "GBT Connect" is launching in Trumbull on July 1. It is sponsored by the state Department of Transportation.

"The microtransit service is a shared ride, on-demand service that will operate within the borders of the town of Trumbull from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days per week," said Steven DeMichele, planning and service development officer at the Greater Bridgeport Transit.

Rides cost $4 and residents can order a ride or make a reservation on the program's website and mobile app.

DeMichele said the program will start off with three vehicles, and GBT will later assess if more are needed based on the response the program gets from the community.

"We can respond to that pretty rapidly," he said. "The overall idea is to provide grater access to public transportation in the community." ...
