When 'Abdul' walked into a San Diego court to plead his political asylum case, ten veterans showed up for his hearing, unarmed, but dressed in hats and shirts to signify their military credentials as a "show of force." Called 'Battle Buddies,' they support Afghan refugees facing deportation. "Masked agents of the federal government are snatching up our friends, people who took life in our name and have done nothing wrong," said the organizer of 'Battle Buddies.' These veterans recognize the sacrifices Afghans made to help the US military, including Abdul who was tortured by the Taliban. But since the Trumpf junta has terminated many of the programs which protected them from deportation, Afghans now fear they will be repatriated into the cruel hands of the Taliban.
Approximately 200,000 Afghans relocated to the US after Kabul fell to the Taliban in August 2021. The US left Afghanistan as scheduled as part of the Doha Accord concluded by the first Trumpf Reign of Terror. Other ISAF countries began pulling out Afghan interpreters and interlocutors before Kabul fell, unlike the US. Now a terrible fate awaits many Afghans who collaborated with the US. The Trumpf junta has no regard for non-whites, no matter how much those non-whites helped US forces in Pashtunistan or Iraqistan. Years ago, the British government denied visas and benefits to loyal Gurkha soldiers after the UK military downsized. That draconian measure was overturned. Links: DHS Ends TPS; Battle Buddies.
