TX: Governor Abbott Proclaims US Muslim Groups Terrorists

Texas Governor Greg Abbott designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. This designation authorizes heightened enforcement against both organizations and their affiliates and prohibits them from purchasing or acquiring land in Texas

As a former FBI official in charge of counterterrorism once said, "Of all the groups, there is probably more suspicion about CAIR, but when you ask people for cold hard facts, you get blank stares." The real reason anti-Muslim hate groups and pro-Israel lobby group obsessively target CAIR and other American Muslim institutions is because of our steadfast advocacy for Palestinian rights. Sadly, your office has spent months stoking anti-Muslim hysteria to smear American Muslims critical of the Israeli government.
By defaming another prominent American Muslim institution with debunked conspiracy theories and made-up quotes, you have once again shown that your top priority is advancing anti-Muslim bigotry, not serving the people of Texas.
Unlike your office, which has unleashed violence against Texas students protesting the Gaza genocide to satisfy your AIPAC donors, our civil rights organization answers to the American people, relies on support from the American people, and stands up for American values. We have successfully sued you three different times for shredding the First Amendment for the benefit of the Israeli government, and we are ready to do so again if you attempt to turn this publicity stunt into actual policy.
CAIR plans to continue opposing all forms of bigotry, speaking out against injustice here and abroad, and defending the Constitution's guarantees of free speech.

imo, that is A Good Thing.

s it seems to ban exclusion-oriented compounds ("gated communities"?).

I'm sure this distinguished legal expert will impartially see the injustice and idiocy of the Texas proclamation and volunteer his services for free.

Here's why Texas Governor Greg Abbott made his idiotic ukase:

1) Either he didn't like seeing Muhammad Bin Salman enjoying himself in the White House (a wealthy Muslim who probably funds mosques in the US and other places);

or

2) Through FOIA, Texas reporters have been pressing for the release of emails between Greg Abbott and Felon Musk: x.com

No word from America's so-called top lawyer, Alan 'AIPAC' Dershowitz yet.

Muslims make up a mere 1.34% of the US population, yet AIPAC has managed to somehow demonize this tiny lot for the sake of Israel which continues to kill Palestinians drip by drip every day in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. A dozen were killed in one shot in Lebanon the other day (see my OP if you choose).

And when some Palestinians or Lebanese who are AMCITs are killed, the nefarious Trumpf junta or US Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) say nothing because they doesn't care. Schumer never endorsed fellow Democrat Zohran Mamdani for NYC Mayor and they met only once briefly in September.

Remarkable.

In 2024, the Democrats didn't heed the massive student protests across 60 universities and excluded Arab-Americans from speaking at the DNC Convention in Chicago. The bloc that undid the Democrats in 2024 wasn't this tiny Muslim-American population which cast its vote 50/50 like the rest of the American electorate, but the potent six to seven million strong progressive antiwar movement. So, on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024 Democrats lost 6,265,888 supporters they had in 2020. They stayed home.

These are the same Samaritans who stayed home on Tuesday 5 Nov 1968 rather than vote for a warmonger Democrat, Republican Richard Nixon, or segregationist George Wallace.

Interchange the words "Commies!" for "jihadists!" and both 1968 and 2024 sound the same, don't it?

For Democrats, Tuesday 5 Nov 2024 = Tuesday 5 Nov 1968.

Now we have Trumpf 2.0 the way we suffered through Nixon 1.0.
