The Donald Trump-appointed 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled two-to-one that California's open gun carry ban in counties with more than 200,000 people is unconstitutional.
California has some of the strictest firearms control laws in the US, after then- Governor Ronald Reagan did not approve of the Black Panthers legally and openly carrying firearms to protect People of Color being abused by white police officers in the late 1960s. About 95% of California's population live in counties of 200,000 people or more: Map: California CountiesNationally, every eleven minutes someone in the US is killed with a firearm, either by an assailant, by accident, or a self-inflicted wound.Dummkopf Trumpf-appointed US Circuit Judge Lawrence Van Dyke wrote that California's law could not stand under the 2022 SCOTUS landmark gun rights ruling and another of his appointees concurred: This latest case "unquestionably involves a historical practice, open carry, that predates ratification of the Bill of Rights in 1791."
In an average year, 3,333 people die and 9,787 are wounded by guns in California, which has the 32nd-highest rate of firearm violence in the US. In the Golden State, the rate of gun deaths increased 8% from 2014 to 2023, compared to a 33% increase nationwide.
California has the 45th-highest societal cost of gun violence in the US at $1,060 per resident each year. Firearm violence costs California $41.9 billion each year, of which $1.1 billion is paid by taxpayers.
This appellate ruling is in alignment with Dummkopf Trumpf's Executive Order (7 Feb 2025) to loosen firearm regulations nationwide: Let Americans Shoot Each Other EO
Every resident of the US that is hospitalized because of disease, shot with a firearm, stricken with food poisoning, ill from chemical or radiation exposure, is money to be made for the corporate elites in America's insidious for-profit healthcare system. With Obamacare subsidies now ended, many Americans will be unable to afford premiums and some will simply go without health insurance, hoping no medical catastrophe befalls them or a family member.
"This American carnage stops right here and stops right now."
