The completely irresponsible and massively incompetent Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth bleating on social media:

"Before today, it was virtually impossible ... for War Department personnel to get permission to carry and store their own personal weapons aligned with the state laws where we operate our installations. ... Well, that's no longer."

Each year, approximately 48,830 Americans die from firearm injuries or one every eleven minutes. The average number of mass shootings in the US is roughly 50 to 60 per year, which translates to approximately four to five mass shootings per month.

I remain to be convinced that the results of this new ruling will end up in a happy place.

Wouldn't that increase the chances of a "lone wolf" serviceman (or servicewoman) taking matters into his or her own hands if he/she is on some military base with a personal firearm and then commanded by certain individuals in positions of power to follow blatantly unlawful orders and he/she feels that there's no reasonable option to express disagreement or outright refusal?

Saw a meme from Duffleblog or USArmyWTF Moments or something: COs' reactions to finding out their soldiers will be drunk in bars with their personal sidepieces. "Oh, great, this will turn out well"
