Tuff Darts - (Your Love Is Like) Nuclear Waste (1977)
www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
I'd rather crawl through poison ivy, or grab high tension wires,
cut my legs off at the knees, or set my self on fire.
Than have to feel your charms closing in around me,
or feel your slimy kisses covering my body.
Your love is like a nuclear waste
Your body is a danger to the human race
They should stamp contaminated
right across your face
Your love is like a nuclear waste
I'd rather stick my tongue into a fan
Drink ex-lax slacks all day long
I'll have to chew on razor blades
or--------- to King Kong
But to have to be between the
sheets with you for any time
I'll have to feel your scaly
flesh moving onto mine
Your love is like a nuclear waste
Your body is a danger to the human race
It should stamp contaminated
right across your face

A song where the lyrics have been changed for radio ...
en.wikipedia.org(song)#Composition
...
The original lyrics included a verse that read "Now that we've grown up together/They're all taking drugs with me". Hague convinced Bernard Sumner to change the latter line to "They're afraid of what they see" because he was worried that otherwise it would not get played on the radio. When performing the song live, the band have usually used the original line.[8]
During a live performance in 1993 in Reading, Sumner replaced the first lines of the second verse with the lyrics "When I was a very small boy, Michael Jackson played with me. Now that we've grown up together, he's playing with my willy."[9] This was a topical reference to the allegations of sexual abuse against the singer. ...
At one point in my career, my manager sent a link to this song to everyone who reported to him, quoting the opening lines... "I feel so extraordinary, Something's got a hold on me."
I sent him a private email telling him the drug-oriented history of the song and the other versions of it.
I'll just say that his response was less than optimum for my career. ...

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Be Not Too Hard (1974)

Lyrics excerpt ...
...
Be not too hard for life is short
And nothing is given to man
Be not too hard if he's sold or bought
For he must do the best he can
Be not too hard when he blindly dies
Fighting for things he does not own
Be not too hard when he tells lies
Or if his heart is sometimes stone
Be not too hard for soon he'll die
Often no wiser than he began
Be not too hard for life is short
And nothing is given to man

Colourfield - Castles In The Air (1985)
www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
I really wanted her hair to touch her knees
I really wanted to share forgotten dreams
Go through the motions of loving from a far
And feel as if i'm reaching for the stars
But each drop of hopelessness amounts
To what could be a raging sea
It could be spring time, I'd meet her at the gates
If beauty ever comes to those who wait
Castles in the air
If only they were there
Just like a beatnik love affair
Those castles in the air
So let me look into the windows of your soul
Let me make the most of what i'll never know
We'll eat forbidden fruits and sing our favourite songs
And never tell each other we're wrong
Each drop of tenderness you give
Would be another reason why i'd want to live
Would be another chance to sit beneath the stars
And whisper to each other in the dark

Lyrics excerpt ...
...
Turn off your mind
And go back with me to a better time
Do you see the same moon I do
When I'm thinking of you
Well that's ok
We can try again another day
Do you feel the same breeze I feel
Lifting you up
Lifting me up
Lifting us up
'Cause everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
You just have to try
Turn off the lights
And don't be afraid of another night
Do the promises you couldn't keep
Make it hard for you to sleep
Well that's ok
Everybody makes the same mistakes
As the stars shine the night away
Let them lift you up
Let them lift you up
Let them lift you up
'Cause everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
You just have to try
Did you ever stop and think when you were twenty '
You'd be where you are today
Isn't it funny how things change
Some things never stay the same
What a shame...
Forget the grade
I can see you turning a greener shade
Do you feel the same faith I feel
Let it lift you up
Let it lift you up
Let it lift you up
'Cause everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
Everyone can fly
You just have to try
You just have to try
You just have to try
Everyone can fly

Guided By Voices - The Official Ironmen Rally Song (1996)
www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
One of the band's catchiest and best-known tunes, produced by the Pixies' Kim Deal. The song was originally intended for a concept album called The Power of Suck, though it was included on Under the Bushes Under the Stars after that probject was scrapped. It was released as a single in late February 1996, preceding the album by about a month.
[Verse 1]
Bitter fish in crude oil sea
You don't have to bother me
You just have to join in on this song
Crawling people on your knees
Don't take this so seriously
You just have to hum it all day long
[Chorus]
To dine alone
To build a private zone
Or trigger a synapse
And free us from our traps
[Verse 2]
You won't see me turn my back
With my head against my stack
Spitting teeth and breaking open skin
Official ironmen, you are free
Champions officially
But you won't catch me on an open chin
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
To dine alone
To build a private zone
Or trigger a synapse
And free us from our traps
[Verse 3]
Knock-out punches for the freaks
Happy little babies with red cheeks
You will rock them gently out of sync
Confirmations through the wire
Spitting gas into the fire
Am I also worthy of a drink?
[Chorus]
To dine alone
To build a private zone
Or trigger a synapse
And free us from our traps

Jill Sobule - I Kissed a Girl (1995)
www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
"I Kissed A Girl" is Jill Sobule's bi-curious, biggest hit.
The lyrics find Sobule falling for her friend Jenny as they bemoan their romantic problems. Like most of the other songs on Sobule's eponymous second album, the musical composition incorporates elements of pop, rock, and country.
The song generated some controversy upon its release, with some Southern radio stations banning the song. In 2008, more than a decade after its release, the song landed Sobule in the headlines once again after she was quoted as jokingly calling Katy Perry an "(expletive) little ----" because she felt that Perry had copied her song with her own song of the same name.
[Verse 1]
Jenny came over and told me 'bout Brad
"He's such a hairy behemoth," she said
"Dumb as a box of hammers
But he's such a handsome guy"
And I opened up and I told her 'bout Larry
And yesterday how he asked me to marry
And I'm not giving him an answer yet
I think I can do better
[Chorus]
So we laughed, compared notes
We had a drink, we had a smoke
She took off her overcoat
I kissed a girl
I kissed a girl
[Verse 2]
She called home to say she'd be late
He said, he worried but now he'd feel safe
I'm glad you're with your girlfriend
Tell her "hi" for me
Then I looked at you, you had guilt in your eyes
But it only lasted a little while
And then I felt your hand above my knee
[Chorus]
And we laughed at the world
They can have their diamonds
And we'll have our pearls
I kissed a girl
I kissed a girl
[Bridge]
I kissed a girl, her lips were sweet
She was just like kissing me
Kissed a girl, won't change the world
But I'm so glad
I kissed a girl
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
And we laughed at the world
They can have their diamonds
And we'll have our pearls
I kissed a girl for the first time
I kissed a girl, and I may do it again
I kissed a girl
I kissed a girl
[Bridge]
I kissed a girl, her lips were sweet
She was just like kissing me, but yeah
I kissed a girl
Kissed a girl, won't change the world
But I'm so glad
I kissed a girl (For the first time)
I kissed a girl (Won't be the last time)
