The closure of the ombudsman's office adds to the lack of oversight of immigration jails nationwide, despite the Trump administration's efforts to surge detention capacity.

"The DHS Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman public-facing website, which advised the families and attorneys of detainees on how to file complaints, was down as of Monday afternoon. Even basic informational webpages explaining the office's responsibilities appeared to have been taken offline. A leaked email attributed the closure to a lack of funding in the recent Homeland Security appropriations bill that ended the shutdown affecting the agency."

Plenty of funds in DHS for military-grade weapons and equipment, but none for inspections or oversight. ICE is not NICE.
Politico reported the following mishegoss regarding DHS:
"Justice Department attorney Kevin Bolan profusely apologized to Rhode Island-based US District Judge Melissa DuBose for an inflammatory press release posted last week by DHS, which Bolan acknowledged "simply was not true."
USDJ Melissa DuBose stated that the nefarious Trumpf junta had put her security at risk by posting that "patently false" allegation that she knowingly released an ICE detainee with an international warrant for murder."
The poisonous DHS screed: Trumpf Junta Meanness and Recklessness
