Schiff Calls for Biden to Step Down

Prominent Democrat Adam Schiff - a California congressman running to be the state's next senator - has called on President Joe Biden to "pass the torch" and allow another Democrat to challenge Donald Trump in November.

More

Mr Schiff said that Mr Biden "has been one of the most consequential presidents in our nation's history", and he could "secure his legacy of leadership" by allowing Democrats to support another candidate.

"Our nation is at a crossroads. A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November," he added.

Mr Biden has repeatedly said he intends to stay in the race, despite the calls for him to step aside.

I wish he wasn't right.

Adam Schiff forgot that the American people will be voting for a platform. Mr. Biden's Cabinet is competent; they have prevented WWIII with Russia and de-escalated a wider Israel-Iran war. No matter who is on the Democratic ticket, the policies of funding Social Security, SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid, protecting a woman's reproductive rights, and containing Putin without WWIII is what Americans will be voting for.

From a wheelchair, FDR and his Cabinet saved the US from the Great Depression, enacted Social Security, and led the Allied Powers over Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in WWII.

Good Afternoon Doc Sarvis: As an endnote and more personal than analytical, Mr. Schiff should have spoken to POTUS privately, not in the public arena. Now he has given the GOP a free bullet for their TV ads. Mr. Biden's initial error was sharing a debate stage with #45, giving validation to a twice impeached convicted felon who on 06 Jan 2021 allegedly tried to subvert the results of the 2020 elections. #45 was impeached of that charge by Congress but acquitted by the Senate, so #45 is technically innocent of insurrection, so far.

Historical Perspective:

During WWII, Marshal Carl Mannerheim of Finland was fighting a desperate war against the USSR. Nazi Germany offered to help and both nations formed a 'co-belligerency' against Moscow. But Marshal Mannerheim was clever enough not to validate Der Fuhrer with an official state visit on the world public stage, so he arranged for a secret meeting in Imatra, a small Finnish city. The Marshal thereby deprived Der Fuhrer of a propaganda bullet.
