Helene fact check: Rumors and the reality in WNC

"False information is being widely shared on social media channels, including AI-generated content and images," N.C. Department of Public Safety officials said in a statement. "Nefarious actors and those with ill intent may be taking advantage of this situation by spreading false information." False rumors even spread claiming the government had created the hurricane. The public should find and share information from trusted sources and discourage others from spreading information from unverified sources, NCDPS officials said.

... "Nefarious actors and those with ill intent may be taking advantage of this situation by spreading false information." ...

Yup.

Also, throw in some China and Russia interference via their disinformation campaigns, and you can see the result.

Now take a step back and think about the same mis- and disinformation occurring about the voting on Election Day.

imo, the rumors vs reality with Helene is just a rehersal for what is planned for Election Day.

"Nefarious actors and those with ill intent may be taking advantage of this situation by spreading false information."

This statement right there is all wrong if you want the message to reach trumpturds.

"Bad guys with bad ideas are lying to you" has a better shot at reaching their fourth grade reading level.
