Will the U.S. Ever Be Ready for a Female President?

After Vice President Kamala Harris's defeat, a conversation that has frustrated and foiled two generations of female candidates rages on.

President Biden will sign a proclamation today establishing a national monument in Maine honoring former Labor Secretary Frances Perkins, the first female cabinet secretary and a leading architect of the New Deal.

I think the only way we'll see female President in my lifetime is if it's a Republican. But even then I doubt it, because I don't think a female can emerge victorious from the Republican Primary process.

We're going to have to come up with one that has some bass in her voice and trolls like a WWF heel character.

The Electoral College combined with the cultists of the Religious Right will make it difficult

Not to worry.

After Trump and congressional Republicans changes a few laws, women won't be allowed outside of the house. Ever again.

#4 | Posted by ClownShack at 2024-12-26 02:33 PM

Not as long as American society tries to value a woman with a value system created by a few very powerful men.

It doesn't matter if it is a woman or a minority-- America still is stuck in place with a value system that was created by a white male patriarchy. As a result, Americans are conditioned to value women or minority candidates only for their ability to successfully play what is still a rich white man's game.

If the Democrats had run Tulsi vs. Kamala, they probably would have won. The problem is that the Democrats alienate too much of the voter base with their pandering, demonizing, and pushing unwanted change America.

In 2024, people were demanding change - but that change was the end to the war, the end to mass illegal immigration, and an end to the disastrous Bidenomics. No one was demanding a change to allow kids easier access to sex changes. But that is what the Democrats promised you.

#6 .....and an end to the disastrous Bidenomics.

Care to splain that .... just had the best Christmas ever here.

Don't be stupid, stupid.

Sorry, I assumed that only dongs being allowed in public would be considered a benefit to flaming homosexuals.

When you write your posts.

Are you trying to communicate or insult?

So far you've failed at both.

Sounds like you are a bit butthurt when someone writes nonsensical posts about you rather than the content of the article. Must seems like a mirror is punching you in the face.

I'd like to see either party test the theory on presidential height, and in a head-to-head matchup, have a woman running for president emerge as the taller candidate on stage.

The voter trend toward taller candidates is mixed in the 21st century (GWB was slightly shorter than both his opponents), but was nearly consistently leaning toward the taller candidate from 1900-2000.

I think you will have to wait about 20 years when Kai Trump will be running against whatever POC troll doll the Dems dig up.

" the disastrous Bidenomics."

The inflation under Biden was due, in part, to his $1400 stimulus which most economists admitted wasn't needed. Steve Rattner sounded the alarm early on, pointing out the third stimulus meant more money was infused into the economy than Covid had drained. Rattner predicted inflation.

Meanwhile, Trump had promised a 42% higher stimulus.

Is there anyone here who doesn't believe inflation would've been WORSE under Trump?

America still is stuck in place with a value system that was created by a white male patriarchy.

When I looked at #5, I really thought about it.

When you liberals say outlandish things like that, you are really talking about accomplishment. You are talking about competition. You are talking about being the best.

You are talking about DEI and giving someone something they didnt earn.

And I think Americans are starting to see that and pushing away from it.

#27 | Posted by boaz at 2024-12-27 06:29 AM

The first female American President will most likely be a Republican ---------- in the mold of Thatcher, a person who loved power, that legal authority to grind the opposition into the dirt and laugh at their corpses. My guess, there are several in today's Trump camp who would love the job...
Would we ever degenerate so far as a nation to allow Kari Lake to take the job?

#28 | Posted by Hughmass at 2024-12-27 06:41 AM

sure....if either party ran someone better than the bottom of the barrel of bubbling manure like hillary / kamala...

#29 | Posted by shrimptacodan at 2024-12-27 07:14 AM

If the rule America followed brought it to Trump, then of what use was the rule?

#30 | Posted by NerfHerder

Amen.

Donald proves that America is ready for a president sculpted out of cow manure.

If MAGA had one, they would swear up-and-down that it could talk.

#31 | Posted by Zed at 2024-12-27 09:55 AM

MAGA thinks it is privy to some sort of ageless, universal code of conduct which renders its actions and words superior to all others. It is a cult-like belief, as there is an underlying pathological aspect to it. That aspect is that the code demands that it can never, EVER be wrong about anything and as a result it is forced as a collective entity to affirm the veracity of even the most illogical and ridiculous ideas, theories , statements, and/or actions emanating from its philosophical and political leadership.

#32 | Posted by NerfHerder at 2024-12-27 10:05 AM

W was actually the first Woman President.

Which is why his former supporters are as scarce as hen's teeth now.

The only woman Trumpers respect these days Ms Lindsey.

No worries. We are just in the eye of the storm. After the 20th and Trumpy takes the Oath (assuming he is man enough or doesn't screw it up) things will get real. Real crazy. And CNN and MSNBC and all the others will have plenty of red meat for us.

And I'd listen to Rachel Maddow over any of the hateful lying goofs on Fixed News any day of the week.

Unfortunately there is only one Rachel Maddow. And she is only on once a week. Fortunately there are her podcasts. Which is another reason ratings are dropping. Alternative news sources abound.
