There was a time when Ukrainians, by and large, simply refused to believe that their friendly neighbor, led by Putin, would ever attack them. But the American leaders warned them time and again that Putin was gearing up for a short war.
And now, there are those who think Putin would never try to take back one of the other nations who were freed when the Soviet Empire fell....
And we, America, are led by someone who seems truly to be a Quisling, a Putin tool.

I do wonder if Trump will be successful in weakening NATO enough that it dissolves...and then the EU will be the only alliance that countries like Canada, and unfortunately, the UK, can depend upon.

Loyal to the fascist in the White House to the last...one hopes...that one day fairly soon we have leaders of our country and its departments who are loyal to the American people, not to the Trump gang.

America used to be the world's finest example of a land working to be free from racism and then it took a hard turn to the fascist, with a bully like Musk able to put Trump back into the White House and the billionaires taking from the poor and giving...to themselves, in bankrupting tax cuts.
China today is in no way a democracy, a Constitutional Republic, and I fear my country, America, is heading the same way.

And Europe, the EU, should always remember that just before Russia attacked Ukraine, even the Ukrainians didn't believe he would attack a friendly neighbor.

So, is this all coming from Trump's grifting part of his brain, or from his cognitive decline part, with Trump it is hard to tell. Trump acts like he or his family is invested in Ai in a major way.

And now we have one more reason to make sure to show up and vote during the midterm elections...if the Republican Party keeps both Houses of Congress, they can push this through and take their time about it.
I do hope Alito resigns fairly soon, he is a disgrace to Yale Law School, who seemed to have taught him that the Constitution is a suggestion, not the primary authority.

Give it a rest, cutthroat capitalism didnt' slow down when it exported tens of millions of jobs to Mexico or China, and AI will be rushed out to the factory floor to replace workers, it will be replacing cab drivers and teachers and...the rich will get richer and the poor will get propaganda and what CBS news has turned into.

One sees all this and one hopes against hope that the Dems take back both Houses of Congress, and so finally present the Trump debacle in all its greed and con games in investigation after impeachment.

If Putin were at his shoulder giving him instructions as to how to destroy this America, Trump is daily dividing us one from another and America from its vitally important allies.

So wish I could disagree...but yeah, we have been badly led for many years by those who were, who are, in thrall to the big money boys, as in oil, as in the big banks, and like all Empires, like the Soviet Union, we are falling, out of control, as the oligarch billionaires loot the treasury. That was all Musk was doing, is doing.

I grew up in a home where mom was a suicidal alcoholic, and every year or so would attempt suicide in a more and more effective way, until one day she "succeeded". We heard a lot of "speeches from Jonestown" until she just kept to herself...and that is when Trump will be his most dangerous, when he shuts up and puts his thick thumbs, in effect, on the "button".
Not her fault, her early life was unbearable...broken hearts lead broken lives.

Our public school system is at the core of our democracy, and it must be protected at all costs, and certainly public does not mean private, it doesn't mean subsidizing a school that is religious based and has as its base an established religion.

Too late to save all those jobs that are going to robots and AI software...and as far as those who argue that LLMs are not a danger...I am reminded that only a couple of years ago that was what everyone was saying...not to fear, and now...software can do the job of a teacher and cab driver and lawyer and many doctors...
I fear corporate America far more than I do AI, that is for sure.

If a citizen that poor person needing food stamps owns America, from sea to sea, from Canadian border to Mexican. They own the highways, and in states like Oregon where there are a lot of national forests, they own the trees..and yet there is no dividend for those who own America, and they cannot even have something to eat. No such thing as a good Republican in this time of Trump.

The problem of politics by assassination, is that it works. I am old enough to have been in school when JFK was murdered, and the Texan, Johnson, the VP took over, and then Bobby Kennedy, after he won the California primary, was killed, and then Martin Luther King Jr., and so on and so on, until Nixon and Kissinger ran the world to ruin.
I love the candidacy of Talarico, he brings energy and the truth to the campaign.

If Trump could somehow gin up runaway inflation, that would be the catastrophe he seems to be seeking for the US. Or, of course, both a never-ending war in the Middle East coupled with a major shooting war with China or some small African nation he heard had some oil.

And we have two years left on our "sentence" of being led by MAGA. One wonders if one's blood pressure will rise through the roof upon reading the headlines some mornings.

And left in the dust were millions of fellow humans who were consigned to living in the hell of Taliban rule. Yes, we had to leave, but one has to mourn the entire enterprise. And yes, Trump negotiated the worst "agreements" in American history...no one could have gotten the US out in better order, since the heavily armed Taliban were prepared and just walking in to kill the Afghans who participated with the US.

I would prefer to live in a time where whatever the FED does is...just done, efficiently and quietly, but here we are, when one has to assume that if Trump is involved, the people's pockets are being picked.
