GOP Rep Faces Furious Locals in Town Hall DOGE Mega Backlash

It got heated quickly over [GA Republican Dave] McCormick's support for the sweeping federal budget cuts made in recent weeks by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). McCormick faced boos and "catcalls" as residents pushed back on Trump's erratic governing style.

I'm glad to see that not all Trump voters have given up their ability to think and speak out:

Georgia Republican faces town hall backlash over DOGE's 'chainsaw approach' to federal cuts

Rep. Rich McCormick faced an angry crowd Thursday during a town hall in his Georgia district, where many constituents lashed out at the Republican lawmaker over his support for massive federal layoffs and budget cuts by the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency.

In video of the event taken by Greg Bluestein, a reporter for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and an NBC News contributor, attendees clashed with McCormick, bashing both President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk who is helping lead DOGE's efforts to drastically reduce government spending.

In one instance, an attendee referred to recent cuts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by asking, "Why is the supposedly conservative party taking such a radical and extremist and sloppy approach to this?"

My MAGA Congressman deals with town halls by not having them.

These people who come out IN PERSON to question these fascists are BRAVE people.

But I think that their anger is wasted.

These elected MAGA fascists are cowards to their core.

I will give him credit for showing his stupid face at the meeting.

Almost all of them will hide and cower from angry constituents.

He will too now.

They don't care about anyone who can't afford a $25,000 per plate dinner.

Correction: [GA Republican Rich] as in:

Dude, you can't have it both ways. You can't be both pro-Trump and pro-Constituent when Trump is screwing your constituents over. I bet you were just hoping you would not have to make the choice at such a public forum.

Trying to blame stuff on Diamond Joe. Love it. That went over like a lead balloon. This guy can now buy a calendar with Election Day 2026 as his final day of employment in his present job ...

Imagine cutting the government and a bunch of libtard dorks think it's actually tyranny

"Imagine cutting the government and a bunch of libtard dorks think it's actually tyranny"

Imagine firing government workers and not keeping their contact numbers for emergency rehire. Or not knowing the difference between new hires and new promotions. Or making a claim of savings, only to have it reduced by 1000X because the teenagers you hired can't properly count the number of zeros.

And a bunch of MAGA morons think it's actually governance.

Imsgine firing hundreds of people without knowing what they do? Amd then later being informed about what they actually do and then realizing their importance and how incredibly clueless was your firing of them and then the realization that you are g**king stupid but gifted with power, you didn't earn, but completely clueless about what you should do with it.

He doesn't care. The DOGE DEI hire they dumped already just wanted to fire everyone with an odd numbered SS#.

'Unlike Keyboard Warriors like yourself?'

And what does Sebtinel think he is if not a "keyboard warrior"?

Wining back the House in 2026 is our best hope for stopping Trump & the GOP:

Greg Sargent
@gregsargent.bsky.social
Remarkable: Trump's own pollster just found that in swing House districts, Dems lead by 5 points and voters want tax policy to prioritize working people, per Politico.

Yet GOP is about to brutally slash the safety net and give the rich huge tax cuts!

New piece:

Trump's Own Pollster Just Hit Him with Very Bad News--and a Warning

A poll of swing-district voters is already showing heaps of warning signs for Republicans bent on helping billionaires. That was fast.

"Wining back the House in 2026 is our best hope for stopping Trump & the GOP"

And because their economic policies are so unpopular and are going to hurt so many working class people, including a lot of Trump voters, it is doable. I've been saying since Trump won, their misreading of that victory as a mandate and their subsequent overreach is going to be their downfall. So be it and be it so.

PS If Republican Congress members think their town halls are rowdy now, just wait until they start voting on their crappy budget proposals:

9 states poised to end coverage for millions if Trump cuts Medicaid funding

More than 3 million adults in nine states would be at immediate risk of losing their health coverage should the GOP reduce the extra federal Medicaid funding that's enabled states to widen eligibility, according to KFF, a health information nonprofit that includes KFF Health News, and the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families. That's because the states have trigger laws that would swiftly end their Medicaid expansions if federal funding falls.

The states are Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah and Virginia.

www.cbsnews.com

Note: "Six of the nine states with trigger laws-- Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina and Utah--went for Trump in the 2024 election."

I can hear the Trump voters crying now: "I thought Trump was only going to hurt other people! I didn't think he would cut my Medicaid!"
