We're Breaking Our Promises: Afghans Who Helped US deported?

Afghans who fled the Taliban, including some who helped the U.S. military during America's 20-year war there, are facing the risk of deportation as the Trump administration moves to end legal protections for them.

This is one aspect I think of when I mention the longer-term consequences of the transactional things Pres Trump does for short-term positive media time.

Pres Trump seems to be abdicating a promise made by US troops to the Afghan civilians who assisted them.

How might this apparent abdication affect the willingness of others to help the US troops in the future, when they see that they may just be tossed out like a bag of trash?
