Vlad Ignores Trump's Public Whining on Ukraine

Apr 27, 2025

Russia continues its deadly assault on Ukraine, launching a sweeping drone attack a day after President Trump met with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy at the Vatican before Pope Francis' funeral.

Trump criticized Russian President Putin on social media after that meeting, raising doubts about Putin's desire for peace. John Yang speaks with William Taylor, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, for more.

I often ignored my children whining about their bedtime too.
Often the best way to handle children.

From the @2 article ...

Russia continues to strike Ukraine after Trump questions Putin's commitment to peace
www.theguardian.com

... Russia has continued its assault on Ukraine with a series of drone attacks and airstrikes, hours after Donald Trump cast doubt on Vladimir Putin's readiness to end the conflict.

Three people were killed and four wounded on Sunday morning in airstrikes on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, according to the regional prosecutor's office. In a drone attack on the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipro region, a person was killed and a 14-year-old girl wounded after a third consecutive night of assaults, the local governor, Serhiy Lysak, said.

The US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, described the coming week as "very critical" for US attempts to end the war, telling the American broadcaster NBC that the administration would need to "make a determination about whether this is an endeavour that we want to continue to be involved in".

He was speaking after what was described in diplomatic circles as a potentially historic meeting between Ukraine's leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the US president, albeit only a 15-minute conversation, on the sidelines of the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday. ...

My view, fwiw ...

For starters, there's this ...

... what was described in diplomatic circles as a potentially historic meeting between Ukraine's leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the US president, albeit only a 15-minute conversation, on the sidelines of the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday. ...

Yeah, that was, imo, an important meeting.

It wasn't Pres Trump and and his mascara-loving VP eviscerating Pres Zelenskyy in the Oval Office.

It seemed to be a serious discussion.

How serious, not yet known.

But Pres Trump's approach to Moscow seems to have changed since then.

Time will tell, whether or not Pres trump continues in his quest to give Ukraine's sovereignty to Russia in order to make that short-term transactional deal.
