ICE black-bags harmless old lady with no criminal record

Kashanian arrived in the US in 1978 on a student visa and has lived in the country ever since. She later applied for asylum, citing fears of persecution due to her father's ties to the US-backed Shah of Iran. Her asylum request was ultimately denied, but she was granted a stay of removal on the condition she comply with immigration requirements, a condition her family says she always met. Kashanian was so careful about regularly attending her meetings with immigration officials that she once checked in from South Carolina during Hurricane Katrina.

She remains in Ice custody in Basile, Louisiana, despite having no criminal record.

"Trumpism trashes moral norms in every direction, riding forward on a tide of adultery, abuse, cruelty, immaturity, grift, and corruption. Conservatives once believed in constitutional government and the Madisonian separation of powers; Trump bulldozes checks and balances, declaiming on social media, "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law." Reagan promoted democracy abroad because he thought it the political system most consistent with human dignity; the Trump administration couldn't care less about promoting democracy"or about human dignity."
