Supreme Court Lifts Restrictions on L.A. Immigration Stops

A federal judge had ordered agents not to make indiscriminate stops relying on factors like a person's ethnicity or that they speak Spanish.

This gives ICE and Trump a free card to abuse our Fourth Amendment rights. SCOTUS is beyond corrupt. They are now officially the court of fascism.

FTA:

One plaintiff, Jason Brian Gavidia, a U.S. citizen born in East Los Angeles, was stopped by a masked agent while he was working on his car outside a tow yard. The encounter was captured on video.

The agent asked whether Mr. Gavidia was American, and he said he was.

The agent then asked what hospital Mr. Gavidia had been born in, and he said he did not know. The agent and a colleague proceeded to slam Mr. Gavidia against a metal gate, twist his arm and seize his phone.

The lawsuit stated: "Fearing for his life, Gavidia offered to show the agents his ID,... The agents took the ID, and about 20 minutes later, returned Gavidia's phone and set him free. They never returned his ID."

And SCOTUS says it's all perfectly fine, not an issue, please do more.

Kavanaugh showed how out of touch he is when he said that U.S. citizens and legal residents who are lawfully stopped and questioned "may promptly go free after making clear to the immigration officers that they are U. S. citizens".

That's utter bullshht. We know U.S. citizens have been detained for hours - some for days. We know that ICE has kept their identification even after releasing them from what we used to call illegal detainment.

So now if there's a chance you *might* be identified as "one of them" because you're speaking Spanish, have an accent, look "wrong" to one of the ICE goons - you better have your papers, and you better have a solution for getting those papers replaced QUICKLY because if you get detained twice and you don't have your papers? Good luck.
