US: Mosquitos Spreading West Nile, Chikungunya Virus

  • A Hamilton County resident tested positive for West Nile virus, making it the second human case reported in Indiana this year. Idaho reported its first West Nile-related death and Connecticut reported two cases of West Nile in Bridgeport. California reports West Nile disease is spreading among the birds in the northern counties. The West Nile virus is primarily spread by mosquitoes. In mild cases, symptoms include fever, headache, body aches and rash. However, some people can develop more severe symptoms, such as inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, muscle paralysis, and death.
  • The CDC reported there are 50 cases of Chikungunya virus nationwide. The virus, which is spread by the Aedes mosquito, can cause sudden, agonizing joint pain in the hands and feet that can be so severe that it leaves sufferers unable to move normally for months.

Mosquitoes are man's acme predator, killing between 750,000 to one million people every year. There could be an estimated 110 trillion mosquitoes on Earth, 16,000 per human. Arid Las Vegas is facing a potential crisis as mosquitos seem to be adapting to global climate change. Sources: Indiana; Idaho; Connecticut; California; Chikungunya Nationwide.

Too bad none of these pathogenic mosquitos bit corpulent Dummkopf Trumpf during any of the dozens of times he's golfed this year, but there's always tomorrow:

Mosquito invasion, radioactive shrimp, and now a California man in El Dorado County caught the plague from a flea bite. Human cases of plague are extremely rare but can be serious. The most recent human case of plague reported in El Dorado County was in 2020 for a person who was likely exposed to the bacterium in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Yet nothing happens to "Old Excrescence."
