Trump renmes Pentagon, Department of war

"It's an honor to sign this. I think that's a big one, I'll be honest," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. The president was joined at the White House by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for the announcement. Trump said the three men talked about the name change for months. It was unclear if the president can unilaterally rename the department without legislation from Congress. In the meantime, Trump authorized the Pentagon to use secondary titles such as "secretary of war" and "Department of War" in official correspondence and public communications so the department can go by its original name. "Pentagon officials grappled Friday with the Herculean task of fulfilling President Donald Trump's executive order to remold the enormous, global agency into the Department of War.

Many expressed frustration, anger and downright confusion at the effort, which could cost billions of dollars for a cosmetic change that would do little to tackle the military's most pressing challenges " such as countering a more aggressive alliance of authoritarian nations."

;;

"This is purely for domestic political audiences," said a former defense official.

"Not only will this cost millions of dollars, it will have absolutely zero impact on Chinese or Russian calculations. Worse, it will be used by our enemies to portray the United States as warmongering and a threat to international stability."

Nothing says "I deserve a Nobel peace prize" like having a Department of War.

Yes because calling it the "Department of Defense" is sooooo truthful.

I don't see why Trump nor Biden shouldn't have one, Obama received his nomination for one before he was even in office.

Because nothing says meaningful and prestigious like nominating a President for the award before he's even in office.

Westerner's are so cooked.

"The Department of War

Let's talk about Trump's executive order today, in which he seeks to rename the Department of Defense as the Department of War.

What's curious about this is that Trump has this duality to his personality.

He proclaims himself as the President of Peace, and how he has already stopped 7 wars in his second term, and that he is the one who will bring peace to the entire world.

But simultaneously, he has this obsession with a military that has to be the strongest, most powerful, and most intimidating in the world. He loves military parades, because it's all about power with him."
