Russia has a New Strategy for Winter War in Ukraine

The goal is to cause an energy crisis and trigger a new refugee wave to destabilise Ukraine's European allies.

More

Good call with President Zelenskyy. Ukraine will not face this winter alone. The EU stands with you, providing emergency energy support to help Ukraine through the coming months. At the same time, we are working on options to ensure the necessary sustained financial assistance to Ukraine.

"Last month, Poland's foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, said his country will help with generators and extra electricity supplies for Ukraine. But how can generators keep warm more than 30 million Ukrainians who have remained at home through a freezing winter?

Putin knows the answer to this question. That is why the Russian army continues to bomb power plants, gas storage and railway junctions: not only to destroy infrastructure but also to push civilians westwards. Panic itself has become a weapon.

This winter, Ukraine may very well find the limits to the solidarity of its "willing" allies."

;;

Wars targeting civilians directly with missiles, which is a War Crime and the main Putin strategy, and destroying energy structures is pure evil in our midsts.

And NATO has a known traitor in the US WH who couldn't give half a --- about it... except where he refuses to send Tomahawk missiles, as he confirmed today.

"Having failed to win on the battlefield or coerce Kyiv through ultimatums, Russian President Vladimir Putin has shifted the war to Ukraine's energy and logistics systems. At first glance, it looks like a replay of past winters, but the strategy has evolved.

In 2022 and 2023, Russia tried to freeze Ukrainians into surrender. It failed. The spirit of the nation held, and the lights returned. Now Putin's calculation is different. This time, the aim is not merely to punish Ukraine but to also destabilise Europe through the human consequences of cold and darkness."

The new part appears to be the Goal of pushing people out of the country rather than freezing them to death, apparently by which targets they choose.

That's not a new Russian tactic in this war nor historically. The author's evidence of Putin's new strategy is that Kiev opened its borders and let people out. It's not well written soft propaganda from Ukraine.

Strategy on the ground is the same. Russia slowly grinds forward, massing armor for seasonal offensives.

TV tumors in Russia have pointed this out apparently without fear of reprisal:

"Russia's invasion of Ukraine began on 24 Feb 2022. That means the was has lasted over three years and eight months so far.

The Great Patriotic War (Soviet term for the Eastern Front of World War II) lasted from 22 Jun 1941 to 9 May 1945, or three years, ten months, and 17 days.

As of now, the Great Patriotic War was longer by about two months. However, if the war in Ukraine continues beyond May 2026, it will surpass the duration of the Great Patriotic War."

My input: The Russian Army suffered over one million KIA or WIA since the invasion and is occupying 19"20% of Ukraine's territory after all the bloodshed, lives lost, misery, billions of dollars wasted, and ecological ruin.

World War One-style success for the Kremlin.
