Is the price of doing this worth it? NC GOP have questions

Some North Carolina Republicans are worried President Donald Trump's aggressive immigration crackdown in the battleground state could backfire. The Trump administration has touted its North Carolina surge as a successful operation targeting the "worst of the worst" criminals, but some Republicans in the state -- which will feature one of the most expensive and hotly contested Senate races next year -- fear that message is not breaking through with voters.

More from the article ...

... The White House has largely focused its immigration sweeps on blue states that Trump officials have decried as sanctuaries for unauthorized immigrants. But the move to expand immigration arrests into North Carolina, mostly in the Charlotte area, offered the first test for whether the White House's strategy can hold up in a purple state.

Former Republican Gov. Pat McCrory warned that recent local coverage, like an incident at a Charlotte shopping center, when masked agents arrested a man who said he was a U.S. citizen, and a raid at a local country club, may hurt the GOP on an issue it has long dominated. ...

Yeah, that seems to be the overriding problem with the messaging by the Trupm admin.

"Worst of the worst?"

Perhaps that refers to the masked, unidentified ICE agents swooping down and taking away, in unmarked vans, American Citizens.

Worst of the worst, indeed.

As I said on another thread, short sightedness is rewarded immediately.

After effects be damned.

The Trump wants his viral moment...

...while completely forgetting that his viral moment is seen, on local television news reports, as masked agents disappearing people off the streets of America.

Democrats could not pay enough for that publicity that is handed to them on a silver platter (faux gold is passe).

Really, fascism could backfire?

If only there were historical examples of what happens in countries after they start rounding up the undesirables en masse.

Any Republicans want to talk about what comes next, now that we've started rounding up the undesirables en masse?

My guess is that your question will likely be greeted with crickets.

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
Well my daddy he stood at the foot of the stairs
He was calling to me at the time
And I knew even then, I could die for the thoughts
That I kept in the back of my mind

But I dared not to speak
How I felt for my dad
Cause there were no words to define
The ball of confusion, of feelings and junk
That I kept in the back of my mind

So I took to the highway
And I kept to myself
Just a lookin' and hopin' to find
Some solutions, some answers, someway to exist
With this stuff in the back of my mind

So I took me a job
And I took me a wife
And I took me a bottle of wine
And it did not take long, 'til all I had left
Was this stuff in the back of my mind

[Drivin' like rain, or a runaway train
Flyin' blind, shot from the dark in the back of my mind]

Well the end of the tunnel
Just never came up
'til I came to the end of the line
And I saw that the light I'd been hoping to see
Was just a spark in the back of my mind

And the cold wind that blew
Through the hole in my heart
Made a fire for the very first time
From some branches of trust
And a kindling of faith
And that spark in the back of my mind

Drivin' like rain, or a runaway train
Flyin' blind, shot from the dark in the back of my mind
...

Have you ever noticed HOW OFTEN the local GOP has a panic that something Trump has done will backfire, AFTER they let him do it?
