The Trump administration banned abortion care and counseling for Veterans in secret. The VA now has the most extreme abortion restriction across all federal agency health care programs.
In 2000, women Veterans were just four percent of the US Veteran population. But by 2040, they are projected to make up 18% of all Veterans, making them the fastest growing group of Veterans. The median age of women Veterans was 52 in 2023. Approximately 22.5% were 65 or older, and 2.2% were 85 or older. Link: Women Vets
Secretary of the VA Douglas Collins has served as a chaplain in the USAF Reserve since 2002 and was promoted to Colonel in 2023.
