Peace was obtainable, in negotiations with Iran, but our "leaders" wanted war. If Israel would stop the apartheid and actually help the Palestinian people create their own state, peace would be obtainable.

"Talks have repeatedly stalled or collapsed without agreement."
Trump made it clear he has no interest in negotiating with Iran when "Trump withdrew the United States from the JCPOA in May 2018."

@52 The IDF began destroying the bridges across the Litani River in Lebanon before the loathsome Bezalel Smotrich uttered these blasphemies, so the Likud Cabinet had this idea of permanent expansion in mind before their brutal and illegal offensive against the people of Lebanon.

In the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the IDF looked the other way when their Christian militia proxies murdered captured unarmed Palestinian and Muslim fighters. This well-documented barbarity was known as the "Sabra and Shatila Massacre" and was the nascence of Lebanese Hezbollah. The previous Shia movement "Amal" was too weak and ineffective in resisting the Israeli invaders. Israeli DM Ariel Sharon was at first punished for allowing this war crime, then brought back into government as a minister-without-portfolio.
Lebanon's previous colonial master and historic protector, France, deployed the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to the Middle East, but is doing nothing to defend the people of Lebanon from Israel's onslaught.
This is why the Lebanese people no longer consider France a friend or ally and youngsters speak English in the cafes and universities when years ago French was their second language.
The "suckers and losers" in this illegal war are the hardworking American taxpayers who fund a fascist junta here in the US and a vicious ethnic cleansing regime in the Middle East.
@#87 ... Tehran says Trump's peace talk claims are fake news' ...
I wonder who Pres Trump thinks he is talking with in Iran, and if that person is actually in control in Iran? Or who, for that matter, seems to be talking for Iran?
Tehran says Trump's peace talk claims are 'fake news'
www.aljazeera.com
... US President Donald Trump announced that discussions are ongoing with Iran to "determine whether a broader agreement can be reached", saying that "this time, Iran means business; they want to settle. They want peace".
But Tehran denied that talks with the US are taking place, with Iran's parliamentary speaker saying such claims are "fake news" and being "used to manipulate financial and oil markets".
Oil prices dropped by about 11 percent after Trump announced a delay to attacks on Iran's power plants for five days amid his claims of talks.
Despite Trump's comments, US Central Command says US forces "continue to aggressively strike" targets in Iran, as Iranian missiles and drones continued to target Gulf countries " including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait - overnight.
Israeli warplanes bombed Beirut's southern neighbourhood as the Lebanese Health Ministry said the death toll from Israel's attacks on the country had reached 1,039 people, with 2,786 people injured, since March 2. ...
@#74 ... Yeah it's almost like when they sign a treaty with the USA, a new president comes in and just rips it up because he's jealous that the treaty signer had a bigger blacker dick than his. ...
But that agreement was not just between the US and Iran. It also incorporated many other countries.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action

... also known as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal, was an agreement to limit the Iranian nuclear program in return for sanctions relief and other provisions.
The agreement was finalized in Vienna on 14 July 2015, between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) -- China, France, Russia, the U.K., U.S. -- plus Germany)[a] together with the European Union. ...
That's quite the collection of various nations that fmr Pres Obama pulled together for the agreement.
Yet, Pres Trump just tore it up, and seems to want to go it alone with his current assault on Iran...
