Oklahoma is recognizing the 31st anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing and the 168 lives lost on April 19th, 1995.

Edward T. Linemthal's The Unfinished Bombing: Oklahoma City in American Memory is a terrific account that gets into how the bombing was hard to view for some in a strictly "good/bad" light. Why? Because they shared so many of the bombers' delusions. MAGAts before Trump tapped into that swamp. I haven't been back to the memorial area in OKC for a few years, it may have changed, but the actual reasons those sociopaths had for blowing up the building and any meaningful discussion about those views is not something that's seriously addressed.

The Memorial is a place that every American should visit. the first five minutes of the visit are stunning.

The saddest thing about the Memorial's display is the description of the State Trooper who stopped Mr. McVeigh and then disarmed him while taking him into custody. The trooper's actions started with asking whether or not there were any firearms in the car, to which McVeigh answered honestly. These days, OK Troopers no longer ask. Were this tragic bombing to happen today in the Sooner or Later State, a mass murderer would have been sent on his way...
