Israel struck back at Iran early Saturday, delivering a much-threatened response for this month's 180-missile attack by Tehran and further expanding the hostilities that have spiraled out of the war in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had vowed a forceful response to Iran's ballistic-missile attack on the country. The missiles launched by Iran in early October caused minor damage, according to Israeli officials, but in some places penetrated Israel's air defenses. The Biden administration had said Israel has the right to strike back but urged it to refrain from attacking Iran's nuclear and oil facilities, an escalation that could spark a regional war and raise oil prices. Iran said its missile attack was retaliation for the deaths of the leaders of its allied militias Hezbollah and Hamas and a top Iranian general.

Israeli military says it is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran
www.reuters.com
... The Israeli military said early on Saturday it is conducting "precise strikes" on military targets in Iran in response to what it called "the continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against Israel". ...
That is 25 minutes old as I post this comment.
Keep in mind that early info may not be correct.
Israel says retaliatory strikes against Iran 'completed'
www.dw.com
... The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes against military targets in Iran early Saturday morning.
The Israeli military then said it has ended its retaliation on Iran about three hours after it first announced the news. It also warned Iran against further escalation.
The IDF said the strikes were in response to "months of continuous attacks from Iran." Israel had long vowed to respond to Iran's missile attack on its territory on October 1.
The Iranian assault followed the killing of the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, in late September in Lebanon.
It also followed the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by an explosion in Tehran in July that Iranian officials blamed on Israel. ...
imho, still early information ....
A largely symbolic attack.
Yes. Other than for those two dead Iranian soldiers.
Iran's last missile barrage has changed the balance of power in the ME
How so? Seems that Iran's attack was also symbolic, although unintentionally so, other than for that Palestinian Iran killed ("Gazan buried as only known victim of Iranian barrage against Israel" www.reuters.com) much to everyone's amusement.
And that's why Israel no longer exists, Palestinians have their homeland (much to the chagrin of Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon), Sinwar and Nasrallah popped back above ground bereft of their 72 virgins, and 50,000 Palestinians were resurrected.
and Israel now cannot act without full US support.

Yep. And that's why Iran is ... doing what, exactly?
@DeadMan
Great! Sounds like Iran got everything it wanted. I imagine Ayatollah Ashahollah has come out of hiding since Israel is no longer to be feared. ("Iran's Supreme Leader 'in hiding' as 200 missiles fired at Israel in chilling warning" www.msn.com)
"Iran's supreme leader says Israel's attack 'should not be exaggerated nor downplayed,' without calling for retaliation"

Seems like Iran is more reluctant to risk Iranian lives than Palestinian lives. Shocking how Iran can engage in strategic thinking like that when it's their own skin in the game, unlike when it ordered Palestinian Isis to rape and murder 1,400 Israeli civilian men, women, and children.
