A Chinese national captured by Ukraine's Defense Forces said he paid 300,000 rubles " more than $2,000 " to join Russia's army through an intermediary in China. The Chinese soldier underwent military training in Russian-occupied Luhansk Oblast without a translator, relying instead on hand gestures and his phone to communicate. In exchange for fighting in the war against Ukraine, he had been promised Russian citizenship. The prisoner said that some members of the group had legal problems back in China and language problems in Russia. Ukraine President Volodomir Zelensky stated that 150 Chinese nationals were fighting for the Russian Army: apnews.com
