Massive Lottery Corruption Scandal in Texas

The executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission resigned amid multiple investigations into jackpots totaling nearly $200 million. State law allows Texas jackpots to be claimed anonymously and two of the biggest jackpots in agency history drew intense scrutiny and criticism. In 2023, a $95 million jackpot was awarded when the winners bought nearly every possible number combination, more than 25 million of them. In Feb 2025, an $83 million ticket was won with a ticket purchased from a chain that operates locations in six states, and the April 2023 jackpot was collected two months later in the form of a one-time payment of $57.8 million to a company called 'Rook TX.'

This story brings to mind several thoughts, including Felon Musk's business move to Texas, his AI resources, and his incorporating "United States of America Inc" and 'Group America LLC' in the Lone Star State in 2024. But Musk's connection to this scheme is speculative at best for now. Second, this story reminded me of an entertaining dark comedy Lucky Numbers (2000) starring John Travolta fixing a lottery drawing.

Texas?

Corruption?

Nah, couldn't be.

It's a red state miracle.

There was a writeup I think it was on Slashdot the other day:

A global gambling syndicate led by secretive Tasmanian gambler Zeljko Ranogajec and London bookmaker Bernard Marantelli successfully executed an unprecedented operation to claim a $57.8 million Texas lottery jackpot in 2023.

Hi Snoofy. Thanks for the update. Hmph, these guys beat Felon Musk to the punch. I guess the Texas Rangers will fly to Tasmania or London to fetch these varmints. "Hi Ho, Silver! Away!"
