GingerBread Hotel in Haiti burned to the ground

Haitis once-illustrious Grand Htel Oloffson, a beloved Gothic gingerbread home that inspired books, hosted parties until dawn and attracted visitors from Mick Jagger to Haitian presidents, was burned down by gangs this past weekend.

Comments

"A lot of Haiti's architectural heritage is going up in flames right now with so-called leaders stand by with their hands in their pockets," Deibert said

What do they expect them to do? This is a classic case of, the only thing that's going to fix it, is violence. That's it. Whoever wins the violence, wins the "peace".

Plain and simple. Those gangs are savages and must be killed. That's it.

Anyone ever been to this hotel? I haven't considered traveling to Haiti since my first trip to another country (Canada) 50 years ago. Has it been safe to travel there during our lifetimes?
