A former leader of the far-right Proud Boys took to X late Thursday night to rant at Donald Trump despite the fact that the president had him released from his 17-year prison sentence after less than two years for taking part in the Jan. 6 insurrection. Joe Biggs, a former Marine who filmed himself laughing and storming the Capitol, was one of the rioters freed from incarceration after Trump won re-election but was also one of the handful who did not receive an accompanying pardon. Biggs was convicted on six criminal counts, including seditious conspiracy, and he was sent to federal lock-up before Trump commuted his sentence.
I'm extremely disappointed in him," Biggs said of Trump before adding, "I didn't go to trial and blame him for it. I didn't go and say, Oh, this was Trump's fault.' I sat there and I bit my tongue and I ate it."
On Thursday, he ramped up his attack on the president and begged for a pardon.
"We (J6ers) went to jail so Trump didn't have to. We took the fall for him. At least he could do is pardon me and allow me to take care of my family. Allow me to receive my military benefits and retirement pension I worked so hard for," he wrote.
