Gavin Newsom tweeted that we should "continue the work" of Charlie Kirk and honor his memory.

Centrist columnist Ezra Klein published a column titled "Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics The Right Way."

No we should NOT "continue his work".

And no he was NOT practicing politics the "right way".

To call for "continuing his work" or to praise how he "practiced politics" is to erase what that work actually was: a relentless campaign of hate directed at LGBTQ+ people, racial and ethnic minorities, and anyone who refused to fall in line.

His model of politics was not dialogue, but trolling: hopping from campus to campus to bait students, churn out sound bites, and spread hate. And his rhetoric was not debate"it was violent, dehumanizing, and designed to put targets on people's backs.

Is it possible for someone to practice politics the right way if you disagree with the message?

Duh. Yes.

I would have said Adam Kinzinger and Liz Chaney but Republicans threw them out and ostracized them as they were way too rational and reasonable.

And yes I can could also cite many from the past as there are excellent examples there.

Since leaving Congress, former Representative Liz Cheney has made several appearances at town hall-style events, primarily with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election campaign.

Kirk was the only one, perhaps you know some others.

The point is that there are still "reasonable" people in the world who do not need to resort to trolling, violent rhetoric, demonizing and dehumanizing others and lies to make a political point.
