Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

No, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud did not speak out publicly about the death of Charlie Kirk this week, no matter what you might have read on social media. That goes for the Twitter account of Gov. Greg Abbott as well.

After Charlie Kirk was killed, a Facebook page that specializes in false news posted a fake quote from C.J. Stroud about the death. Now it's getting shared like crazy, including by the governor. bit.ly/3IgPcwv

"CJ Stroud wants the team and the entire NFL to observe a moment of silence in memory of Charlie Kirk. "

When the Hell Kirk is in freezes over.

Any idea whether the false narratives were spawned by the right or the left, Eb...any ideas at all?

Not really impressed with what some humans are saying either.

Gavin Newsom tweeted that we should "continue the work" of Charlie Kirk and honor his memory.

Centrist columnist Ezra Klein published a column titled "Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics The Right Way."

No we should NOT "continue his work".

And no he was NOT practicing politics the "right way".

To call for "continuing his work" or to praise how he "practiced politics" is to erase what that work actually was: a relentless campaign of hate directed at LGBTQ+ people, racial and ethnic minorities, and anyone who refused to fall in line.

His model of politics was not dialogue, but trolling: hopping from campus to campus to bait students, churn out sound bites, and spread hate. And his rhetoric was not debate"it was violent, dehumanizing, and designed to put targets on people's backs.

-And no he was NOT practicing politics the "right way".

Is it possible for someone to practice politics the right way if you disagree with the message?

And no...you can't use any dead people as examples of your objectivity.

Cite someone alive right now that you disagree with but they still practice politics the right way.

Anybody who would invent or promote a false narrative knows it has a very short shelf-life. Those players will refute it almost immediately.

I imagine it's intended to sell the notion black athletes/celebrities really respected Kirk.

Which isn't likely.

internet trolls......from the right....likely did it.

Susan Collins (Maine)
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Bill Cassidy (Louisiana)
Todd Young (Indiana)
Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania
John Curtis (Utah)

I would have said Adam Kinzinger and Liz Chaney but Republicans threw them out and ostracized them as they were way too rational and reasonable.

And yes I can could also cite many from the past as there are excellent examples there.

But you obviously are one of those who not wish to learn from the past.

When have they stood in public square and discussed/debated things with constituents of the opposing party?

AFAIK Kirk was the only one, perhaps you know some others. I know of no politicians who to "public squares" and debate.

Too much risk.

You mean immigrant, or is that how you differentiate between "immigrants you like" and immigrants you don't like?

Too many lies.

Since leaving Congress, former Representative Liz Cheney has made several appearances at town hall-style events, primarily with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election campaign.

Kirk was the only one, perhaps you know some others.

I'll repeat it again just for you foreign agitator.

He was a troll. Instead of trolling online like you and others here do he took it on the road hopping from campus to campus to bait and humiliate students. His rhetoric was not a debate ... it was violent, dehumanizing, and designed to put targets on people's backs.

Seriously. GFY with your lies.

And how about those Trumpy "town halls", eh?

Citizen:
"What is your plan to help bring down inflation and make life more affordable for Americans like me who are just starting off?"

Most candidates would love to get that kind of opportunity to offer up specific plans to appeal to the youth vote and talk about housing.

Trump instead thanked the young woman for using the term "American dream," which she didn't use, and then he ranted about zoning laws and interest rates:

The biggest thing, two things. Make the economy good, so you get a lot of money, right? Make the economy good. And the other thing is interest rates. We're going to get interest rates. Right now, you can't get money. Even if you had a good job, you're paying 10%, you're paying 11%, 12%, and you can't get it. When I was president, it was 2.2% interest, and now, and the money was all over the place, and now you can't get the money. So we're going to make sure that you can get the money.

Trumpy: now.. No more questions. I feel like dancing for 20 minutes. .

I don't have a "list".

Make your own if you want one.

The point is that there are still "reasonable" people in the world who do not need to resort to trolling, violent rhetoric, demonizing and dehumanizing others and lies to make a political point.
