House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has been accused of using campaign money to pay his rent. The use of campaign funds for personal expenses is strictly prohibited under campaign finance law. Complaint letters were sent to both the Office of Congressional Conduct (OCC) and the FEC. Johnson is currently residing at the residence of his Republican colleague, oligarch multimillionaire Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the second wealthiest member of congress. Johnson, who has claimed that he doesn't have a personal checking account, has faced questions about his finances in the past. FEC Complaint: Hypocrite. Mike Johnson Financial Disclosure Form: No checking account?
NEW: The Campaign Legal Center has filed an FEC complaint against Mike Johnson, saying he used campaign $ to pay $12K in rent for his DC home. Johnson's team says the payments are completely legal & for a separate campaign office. @courthousenews.bsky.social www.courthousenews.com/watchdog-say ...
