Military Lawyers to Be Used As Immigration Judges

The Dummkopf Trumpf junta will be temporarily assigning military JAG officers to serve as immigration judges. The DOD will begin sending groups of 150 attorneys " both military and civilians " to the Justice Department "as soon as practicable," and the military services should have the first round of people identified by next week. The junta's focus on illegal immigration has added strain to the immigration courts, which were already dealing with a massive backlog of roughly 3.5 million cases. More than 100 immigration judges have been fired or left voluntarily after taking deferred resignations offered by the Trumpf regime. This idiotic plan "borrows from Pete to pay Paul," as the DoD will lose JAGs needed for their volume of trials and courts-martial. Link:

The arduous training process to become immigration judges is six months long. These JAG officers will be proficient in the UCMJ, but will have little experience in immigration law. Reserve JAG officers may have to be mobilized and some of them may practice immigration law as civilians, which will help them. This imbecilic move by the most incompetent USSECDEF in American history further militarizes American society, part of the GOP's fascist takeover of the country.

the immigration courts, which were already dealing with a massive backlog of roughly 3.5 million cases.

That was addressed in the bi-partisan immigration bill that Trump destroyed with his call to his sycophantic stooges. But Trump pretends it's all free now by ordering the military to handle things. At far greater fiscal cost, as well as the destruction of our very principles.

Way to go MAGAts!
