House Speaker: Govt Shutdown Could Be Longest in US History

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA.) bleated the government shutdown is on its way to being one of the longest in history unless Democrats accept the House-passed, GOP-crafted stopgap bill to reopen the government. "We're barreling toward one of the longest shutdowns in American history, unless Democrats dropped their partisan demands and passed a clean, no-strings-attached budget to reopen the government and pay our federal workers," Johnson whined on the 13th day of the government shutdown. Congress has been locked in a standoff over government funding as Democrats demand that Republicans make concessions on health care, notably Affordable Care Act tax credits that are expiring at the end of the year. GOP leaders have refused to negotiate on health care during a shutdown, arguing that that Democrats must accept the "clean" funding stopgap the House passed in September " and which has failed to advance in the Senate seven times.

The Republican government shutdown, 13 days and counting, already marks one of the longest federal government funding lapses in modern history. The longest government shutdown was from 2018 to 2019 during Dummkopf's Trumpf's first Reign of Terror, lasting 35 days. Republicans don't care if diseases spread in the population, foreign spies run rampant, healthcare for poor people is cancelled, food banks run empty, or aviation safety collapses. The American public, including House Republican Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA), knows who is responsible for this calamity, no matter how many lies the nefarious Trumpf junta propagates.

Now that the IDF has for the most part annihilated the Palestinians in Gaza, it's funny how now the Democrats are fighting hard against the GOP budget, unlike in March when Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) capitulated to the Republicans when the ethnic cleansing in Gaza wasn't complete.

Duh, Israel First, and always more important than US priorities.

Schumer is a Dual Citizen I believe.

Even if not he acts like Israel is more important to him than anything happening Here.

#3: And "Sneaky Schumer," trying to sound like a moralist during the Nakba, didn't denounce the genocide, but bleated that Israel should hold elections to get rid of Benjamin Netanyahu. But Schumer knows full well that a minimum 60% of the Israeli population are rightwing and religious, so that faux call to hold elections wouldn't have changed a thing about Israel absorbing Gaza and the West Bank. But Schumer got a nice sound bite out of it.

Nice try, Chuck!
