Why the No Kings Protest Moved Me

George Packer: Radicalized By Basic Decency read the sign of a middle-aged man in a ball cap and fleece jacket.

A couple million people spending a weekend protesting because they don't have lives. Good for them, enjoy holding your little signs up. And the bulk of these protestors are elderly former hippies who are also white. Don't take my word, look at the photos. And 99% of what they are protesting doesn't even affect them. When they say "save democracy" are they saying they can't vote, are they saying they can't protest, write letters to the editor criticizing the current administration. Here's how it works, get a candidate that doesn't suck next time and actually have some policies to run on.

Do you have any idea of how objectively stupid one has to be to make this statement with a straight face in our current state of affairs?

Good lord, dude.

A bunch of white boomers is what I saw on the ground. Some news outlets - including MSNBC - were caught showing older video from other events. One station in NOLA showed video of people in overcoats and it hasn't been below 70 degrees this fall.

The right-wing narrative originally said it was going to be all riots filled with Antifa terrorists holding "I hate America" signs. When that obviously didn't happen, your narrative suddenly changed to old white people with nothing to do.

Could y'all have possibly been more wrong? Nope. Anyway, it was just an anti-Trump, pro-democracy protest led by thousands of people from all walks of life. Get over it. Protesting is American.

There have never been that many people rallying in the streets FOR Trump, ever.

He won the popular vote by 1.5% FFS.

So now misrepresented footage is a bad thing? At least this wasn't done to justify shredding the Constitution by violating posse comitatus.

These idiots don't understand math well enough to get the significance.

They genuinely believe they're a significant majority.

They're saying our government is no longer adhering to the rule of law.
You aren't capable of understanding because MAGA can't tell the difference between a totalitarian state and a democratic state.
